Power Supply for Sandy Bridge?
It's a good time for me to finally build a small Home Theater PC so I've picked out a motherboard and a micro ATX case:
Intel BOXDH67GDB3 with HDMI output.
Lian Li PC-V351A
I need to select a power supply and I have become somewhat confused.
The case can use a standard ATX form factor so that seems easy.
I have seen a few notes on some power supplies that say "Sandy Bridge i3,i5 and i7 compatible". What does that mean?
Do I have to select something special like that?
I tried looking for specs on motherboard manufacturer site but didn't find much detail.
It seems as if the only units I have seen described specifically as Sandy Bridge capable have high capacity and high prices.
I uinder stand why you might want to over spec the capacity but it seems like a small HTPC with on board graphics, 2 hard drives and no expansion cards doesn't need the 600+W units I am seeing.
Is there some standard spec or nomenclature that I can search for to confine my search to suitable power supplies?
Thanks.
best regards,
mike
