cool thanks for feedback. i just wrote it like ten minutes before my friend recorded it so was still learning it while playing.  actually, i like the 2nd half much better but i see what you may be hearing & it doesn't come across correctly on mere acoustic. needs amps heavy guitar and loud drums to make sense. it's got this zeppelin thing. also i'm playing it as sloppy as hell just learning it w/ taped drum fingers and all. i'll post a studio version when i get it done.  i dig this tuning it's the same one as Kashmir, Black Mountain Side etc.. thanks again very much!

& ya Kashmir, like Black Mountain Side, is in DADGAD. & it's actually easier to play it in that tuning.  less fretwork.  you can hear it too,  the (Dsus4 chord) in the chorus or whatever the famous descending chords part is called.  the 1st chord is the giveaway- if you listen it's a Dsus4 played on all open strings except the 4th and 6th string fretted at 12th fret playing the G and D note one octave higher.  then the chords resolve eg Dsus4>D etc. and so on... where you start by dropping the G to an F#(11th fret) on the 4th string.  i'm sure there's tablature online where you can see all of it. but like i said it's rather simple actually 

cool ya i'm recording it this summer w/ my band. should be fun.  i really love open tunings & utilize them more than standard tuning. my favorite ones are open C (CGCGCE) and a few custom ones i made, namely open G with two G's at string 1 & 2 (GGDGBD), and open Esus2/add9 (EBEF#BE). these are especially handy live as we're just a three piece http://forum.cakewalk.com/tm.aspx?m=2615223
