Which microhost for Dimension Pro? (editted subject, question in 4th comment).
Hey everyone, I have maybe a very stupid question, but I will ask it anyway :) 1 year back I bought Dimension Pro in sale and installed it on my laptop with Windows Vista. I didn't played with it for some other reasons. Yesterday I wanted to open it again and I couldn't find it. So I installed it again (probably I uninstalled it, because it's 7.4GB). But after installation I can't find how to open it. In All Programs under the Windows button I see 3 icons: Help, release notes and uninstall. In Program files I see: Documentation, Elements, Multisamples, Programs, Resources, Sample Pook in maps and DefaultEffects, DefaultRegion, Dimension Pro.dll, unins000.dat and unins000 separatly. It has a size of 7.4 GB, so I think it's installed. The problem is that I can't open te programm. Am I overlooking something? Or has something gone wrong? I installed it 3 times and restarted my laptop several times. Can anyone help me? I hope that I placed this post well. Sorry, if it is wrong :)

1 - make sure you know the path where the dll for Dim Pro is located (you made a note of this when you were installing it right?) 2 - Inside Sonar, make sure the path identified in 1 above is included in the list of paths for Vst scanning. 3 - Re-scan your Vst list

You have to insert it as a softsynth in Sonar. If you want to use it standalone, you need to download the microhost from the Cakewalk site.

I didn't knew it wasn't a standalone. Then my next question, is Sonar X1 a good one for microhosting Dimension Pro? And does it matter which version (Essential, Studio, Producer, Production Suite) is the best for Dimension Pro?

A microhost is a standalone program that can support the gui, midi, and audio IO of the VSTi, but without any DAW recording, tracks, or multiple instruments. It's the minimal program you could use to play a VSTi in real time. Sonar and other DAWs are HOSTs that support the use of VSTis along with audio and midi recording. Dimension probably came with its own microhost already. See http://www.cakewalk.com/S...reader.aspx/2007013203 to figure out where it went. You wouldn't need any version of Sonar until you want to do recording. Then choose the version of Sonar you want based on the features.

daveny5 ...If you want to use it standalone, you need to download the microhost from the Cakewalk site. I have no idea why...but I haven't been able to make Cakewalk's standalone hosts work on any of my systems. Then again, it might be because I haven't tried very hard...because other very capable free/donationware hosts are readily available. I use Savihost... http://www.hermannseib.com/english/savihost.htm
