Help!! Does anyone know if this is this possible in SONAR?
As you can see from the pic below, I'm simultaneously recording the same guitar onto Track 21 (Processed) and Track 22 (Dry). When it comes to editing/comping all the track layers into two finished tracks, I'll want to use exactly the same clips in each track. The only way I can see how to do this is to place the Now Time Marker where I want to split the tracks, and then select each track in turn. Very time consuming. For example, in this screenshot, say I want to get rid of the nasty little bit of string noise I've outlined in the Processed Track from both tracks. It's easy enough to split that clip around the start of bar 3 and delete the left hand side of that clip to remove the unwanted noise. But to now split and remove exactly the same part from the Dry Track I have to select it separately without moving the Now Time Marker and then repeat the process. Is it possible to somehow have whatever I do to one track automatically happen to the other? Thanks

Beagle yes, highlight both tracks before splitting. Sorry chaps, I didn't explain myself very well. I have been doing that as well - I position the Now Time Marker where I want it and then Ctrl+click the two tracks so the Split command splits them both. I can even delete the two remnants together (depending on which side of the NTM they are). What I was after was being able to just work away on just one of the tracks but have the changes mirrored in the other. I thought it was possible using 'linked clips', but that appears to be something different.

Doesn't seem like there is a way to do this Steve. Clip Selection groups only work on full clips, and Clip Groups have to act on identical clips? I think that's what I just read.

Convert it to a stereo track, work on both sides at once, When you are done you can split back to dual mono and move on.

only record the dry track. then edit it. then cut-n-paste it to another where you can add processing to it.

You could maybe shift drag the processed track onto the dry track then split the 2 into lanes and at least be dealing with one track for gross edits.

I think it's pretty obvious that the tracks should be rerecorded without any string noise. Simples.

Why would you split the clips anyway? Place the now time marker somewhere after the noise then just drag the clip start to the now time, it will snap to it. Drag the second clip start to the now time. Job done.

Thanks all for the great ideas Mike, I'll try that next time - in fact it should be easy enough to set up my TonePort/POD Farm to record that way. Karyn, unless I'm missing something obvious (this is probably true), I always split with a resolution of 1 tick with the 'Snap to zero crossing' option checked. Does slip editing 'snap' to these settings?

humbug.... do what I do. Rather than splitting and deleting..... highlight both tracks, but put your mouse on the timeline at measure 3 and simply drag back into measure 1 (in this case). You will see the timeline turn dark gray where you selected it....and the tracks will mirror that selection as well. Then, simply process audio for GAIN and select the MUTE function from the drop down, click OK and that selected area in both tracks will process to MUTED. If you get the selected area wrong..... no problem, simply click and drag the new area and it changes instantly..... as many times as you need to get it correct. no need to split or delete anything. I use this method all the time to clean up guitar and vocal tracks..... you can make the processed area very surgical by zooming in as far as you need.
