Sems to me that this has less to do with Cakewalk/Sonar and more to do with an audio interface/control surface.

I'm not aware of any audio interfaces that connect via HDMI.
    High Definition Multimedia Interface.
For connecting display devices. HDMI 1.3 allows the passing of digital audio though the same cable.
Not sure what you really mean to be asking - but welcome to the SONAR forum.
There's nothing within anDAW that will let you connect to HDMI. That will be a function of the display adapter (graphics card/device) and your display/ video monitor/TV

If you're wanting to connect a video card's onboard audio interface... forget it.
Even if you could use it... you wouldn't want to (for the same reasons you wouldn't want to use the motherboard's onboard audio interface).  Poor quality... and poor low-latency performance.

These audio interfaces were provided for convenience... for the average home user.
Their purpose was never top-quality ultra low latency audio for recording/mixing.

    Best Regards,
