About where it should have been priced all along, IMO. I might actually buy it at ten bucks. Maybe.

EDIT: this is not a download, and there is a $3.49 shipping charge. Comes to $14.72 with tax. So if $9.95 was borderline justifiable, $14.72 is just a little further away from that line. Still not sure if it's worth it. (You may have guessed that I don't think much of BBE, but you never know when even a marginal plugin might be usable.)

It's a good tool in it's proper place. But as was recently pointed out what hit record ever lost sales because the hi-hat was a bit too harsh?

It think this plug in got a mauling because it became so commonly misused as a 'sheen-maker' on entire mixes....eeewwwww.  I tend to avoid 'exciters' anyway but this is a much nicer tool than the hyper-smudge feature that Ozone calls an exicter.  IMHO of course.

For $15 it won't do any more harm than one allows it to.

Also...I think it has been much improved since Nomad Factory took it over.  For $13 to $15 it's certainly worth a try.  I mean...even Bit is tempted:-)

I have let fate decide for me.

I filled in the purchase form at MF, CC info and everything, but after clicking the final "continue" button it just dumped me back to the main page with no explanation. One of three things has occurred:

    1. the purchase did not go through, in which case luck has saved me from a bad impulse buy
    2. the purchase did not complete but the CC charge did, in which case a $14 debit on the card and nothing in the mail
    3. the purchase did go through, and a box will show up in a week. Then,
3a. I will be pissed off at myself for blowing the price of 3 gallons of gas on another useless plugin, or
3b. the plugin will be EXACTLY what I needed to ****e up that lackluster kazoo solo

I have the software version and the original hardware unit, and the software does not do what the box can and does. The hardware version is not as "brittle", perhaps becasue it is analog..

I purchased mine for way more than the 15 dollars , and really dont use it .

It's what happens when you take the e off the end of spice that gets the forum robot all hot and bothered;-)

I too imagine it's not a breathtakingly good plug (although it recieved some stellar reviews when it first came out).  And I certainly should just avert my eyes from such FYIs as this.  But for $13 bucks it might prove useful to someone.  And that is a "fair" price.  Or is it?

The first plug I ever bought when I had Guitar Tracks 2.0. Haven't used it in a while but not a bad quality plug IMO.  I got joy with it on some acoustic tracks. Similar to Waves Aphex aural exciter. $14.72 tax and title sounds good to me.

Now there's some sound buying logic that I can actually use...

As my Mrs always rightly says "You must already have more stuff than you could ever need" now I can say I'm letting fate make the decisions, and who could argue with that?

I'm looking intently now into all the things that fate might want me to have...

3 Gallons of gas according to Bit.

Although here it would probably amount to 0.6 of a gallon.

It's actually almost 5 gallons where I live.  But then it would be gone.  And instead, for better or worse, I'll have a plug in that, hopefully...does something useful...that I can use for the foreseeable future and beyond...I'll keep ya posted.

In the days of analog tape is was absolutly indispensable.  Now I rarely use the plug in.

It's actually a usable plugin and for this price a bargain.  Whether or not you will use it is up to you.  One should know, however, that all you need from Musicians Friend...although you'll have to wait for the box to arrive apparently...is the serial number.  Then you can simply go on Nomad's site and download the appropriate (32 or 64 bit) plugin and authorize it with their new system.  You DO NOT NEED AN ILOK to use this product.  No matter what it says on the package.  Plus...DO NOT INSTALL THE files on the shipped CD.  Download the appropriate installer from Nomad and follow their online instructions to install and authorize.  HTH.

    Re:D82 Sonic Maximizer 2012/07/23 18:46:18 (permalink)
My initial attempt to buy the plugin had failed - after filling out the form it just dumped me back to the main page. I figured I'd probably just saved myself $14 and forgot about it.

Then MF sent me an email saying I had an item in my cart, with a link to finish the transaction. OK, I thought. Fate does want me to buy it. So I clicked on the provided link and it took me back to the MF main page again. Because I had registered as "Guest" and therefore have no account to log in to, there is no way to actually access my shopping cart. The email warned me that I could not reply to it, so even though they know who I am there is no way to actually complete the transaction. I guess my credit card number will persist there forever in digital limbo, at least until some database administrator clears out the uncommitted transactions during annual maintenance.

Don't you just love this fully-automated human-free retail world we all now enjoy? Progress...nobody said it would be easy.

I have the hardware version of this. Now maybe I won't need it. It certainly does have its place. Works well for some things. Similar to an aural exciter but really a whole different animal. It was a no brainer for me at just over 13.00 with shipping.
