MP 3 encoding
Good evening all. I am trying to export a file in the MP3 format so I can send it to a musician friend. I get the following error message: " MP3 encoder must be unlocked before use." How can I solve the situation? Thanks in advance for your replies. Gerry

You will need the unlock code to unlock it. To get that, you need to purchase it or you can download a free one. Look into Lame. Sonar comes with a 30 day trial, i think????

Here are some Lame instructions (Get it, LAME) I wrote several years ago when I first figured out how to export to MP3 and was too cheap to buy Sonar's MP3 export code. The links to Lame will need to be updated but the concept is still the same I guess. http://forum.cakewalk.com..aspx?m=633806&high=lame Peace.

Or you can pay the $20 bucks and be done with it....that's what I did, now I can burn all the mp3's I want right in Sonar very quickly.

Do you guys think Pyro is a good investment for editing Wavs, building CDs from songs, converting file types, etc? I used to have an older version on my old PC.

I find pyro Audio Creator good for that, plus you can use all of your VST plug-ins in it! I've also used it to copy music from cassettes and burned them to CDs, all nicely indexed. My main complaint about pyro Audio Creator is that Cakewalk hasn't updated it in years. I really wish they would because it works a lot better than Nero for this application.

js516 There is also Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/ its free. Audacity is very simple to use and also effective.. easier to trim start/ends, normalise and print to mp3.. i use it for all the theatre sound fx production.
