Midi Looping Issue

This happens frequently, but here's the current scenario: I've got a two measure piano part that I've looped and, on every pass after the first, the notes in the first measure play back twice as loud as they should - as though the notes had been doubled.

I've gone into Preferences and changed every setting (testing each change individually before moving to the next) that seems like it might have something to do with it, but no joy. I'm guessing it's a bug, but before reporting it I thought I'd run it past you guys.

Has anyone else encountered this? Has anyone else found a way to fix it? Thanks.

Everything there looks normal. No doubled notes.

So, if figured it out. If I loop a section of a clip that has notes in the measure beyond the second loop point, it continues playing through that measure at the same time that it jumps back and plays the first measure of the loop again. In this instance, the measure beyond the second loop point was identical to the first measure of the loop, so it doubled the notes and, hence, they sounded twice as loud.

Seems like Sonar should be smart enough not to do this. I'm going to report it as a bug. That said, I'd be curious to hear from anyone else that can reproduce this.

I filed a problem report least year sometime that having MIDI FX in a looping track can cause SONAR to play  a measure or more past the loop point on top of the first measure being looped. Remove the MIDI FX, and the problem should go away.

I'll have to hunt up the number and see what the status is.

Ah, that could be it. I have the Quantize MFX in the FX bin. Thanks, brundlefly!

Bizarre! It seems that the bug occurs regardless of which track the MFX is on. If there's an an MFX on any track, the issue occurs.

Did you loop it while the MFX was on?

Yes, and with it off. It didn't matter. Either way, on or off the issue occurred.
