Streaming Music: Better Than I Used To Be

http://youtu.be/W4ll66Ps7G8?hd=1

Here's something I posted on YouTube for a friend, Matt Williams, yesterday. He came over and played a cover of Better Than I Used To Be on Saturday as a demo/audition for a project he is working on.

We shot it with my wife's iPhone and I recorded the sound with SONAR and then replaced the soundtrack in a video editor before posting to YouTube.

Matt liked the reverb... he asked for it special.

I think he did a pretty good job and made that SM58 seem like it was happy to hear him sing. I put a soft slope hi pass on his voice at about 180Hz.

best regards,
mike

Hi Mike, excellent vocal sound, he sure can sing. Would love to hear this with a nicer piano sound.

Very nice video and recording.  The vocal sounds as if it could have been recorded in a Nashville studio.  The video from the iphone is sharp as a tack.  It's good to see stuff like this.

    Great country vox!

Lyrics are nice (almost to my freaky expectations)

Actually, I prefer to sing with a piano (vs. guitar) ... he seems so relaxed!

Well I think it's amazing. The only thing I would change (minor) is to have him "tickle" those ivories a bit more some right hand work on the sus chords and a few little runs here and there. Great vocal and performance and mix.

Hey Mike, nice work.  Def the vocalist can sing and play.

It's amazing what you can do with the old I-Phone isn't??

    Nice job.

    Peace Ben
