sustain pedal

hi all. Is it normal that a sustain pedal, while being used in a VST,t.ex Colossus, and is depressed, causes the sound to stop ,after 10 seconds??? And then when pressed down again starts. I use True Pianos and it works ok there, while in the depressed stage. I checked the pedal options in Colossus...and i tried all the settings...but my favo,is with sustain only.,and use the pedal now and again. But is it possible to have the pedal on all the time, without  the sound disappearing???Tried the same thing in Art Vista Virtual Piano, and it was the same there.while i'm using my keyboard normally, thet is not used midi--then the sustain works all the time..while depressed.... Any ideas anyone??/Ray

Record the MIDI and then look at the pedal events in the PRV. If you see that there are unintended pedal-up events there, it could be an issue with the pedal itself or the MIDI interface. Deleting the extra events should cause the note to sustain. If, OTOH, you only see the intended pedal-down event, then the synth - or the patch you're using - is doing something strange.

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

hi bitflipper. Thanks for your advice...!!By PRV ,do u mean in cakewalk,in the track?? Don't recognize the letters PRV!!?? I didn't mention in the first thread ,that the sustain works ,just that it turns off the sound while in the depressed state after about 10 seconds..and when i lift it again and depress it,it works again, and then after 10 seconds the sound disapperars again etc etc. The pedal works perfectly,it's just in cakewalk with the few Vst's i use...as i said ,thet the problem lies.In cakewalks true piano it works perfectly..i can have the sustain pedal depressed all the time and the sound doesn't disappear....tanx again/Ray
