One more step towards the green card...

Looks like I'm going to partake of a great American tradition and attend a baseball game next Wednesday.  Woohooo.

My lovely lady will be singing the national anthem at a NY Mets game (I know, I'm more of a Yankees fan too but, anyway...)

I always thought baseball was the best excuse husbands found to take time off drinking beer and eating junk food when forced to renounce to stripers and McDonald's...  Otherwise, uh...

9 innings of guys waiting for someone to strike a ball w/ a bat, really? This can't be serious. You guys heard of hockey? Guys on blades kicking each others in the face w/ sticks? On ice... Now that's what I call sports. There's blood AND beer...

Congrats on the gig and the card.  I like the Mets--as long as they're not playing the Yankees.  I might have to find a sports bar, so I can see your lovely lady singing.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot--hey, who the hell are you guys?

Cool news bro! I'd watch it if we'd get it on TV here. But best of luck to your wife!

Btw; is watching a baseball game a requirement to get a green card?

I played both baseball and hockey.  Both are very fun, just in different ways.  There's more skill required for baseball (really), but more scrambling and violence required for hockey.

If her performance somehow ends up on youtube, please post a link.  I'd love to hear her sing.  I doubt that this game will be televised on the west coast.

Same here Rain on the link would love to hear her. If you can't relate to the baseball at least the hotdogs probably rock.  Will you both be getting a VIP pass? If so you will probably be in some of the best seats and get a little extra special treatment.

The anthem gig rocks, but I hope you can enjoy the game.  So many friends from other countries have gone to American baseball games with high hopes, only to come away with boredom and indigestion from overpriced concessions.

Yankees!  (sigh)  I'd say something snarky, but the Yankees look great this year, and the Red Sox just look terrible.

Thanks guys. I'll make sure I share a link if it ends up on YouTube.

I actually played baseball when I was a kid (it was a pretty common combo back home - baseball in the summer, hockey in the winter). I can't say that I've ever been too inclined to watching ball games, though, and the perspective of sitting through an entire game isn't all that exciting. Maybe if I could take a guitar w/ me...

She doesn't seem too nervous so far. But it's what she's used to big audiences, cameras and all. It's her life. I'm usually the one that's nervous for her. lol

We're back - had to leave early due to obligations, so we only stayed for the first 2 innings.

I actually dug watching baseball more than I expected - the sun made the experience a bit less pleasant for me, but, otherwise, I think I got it.

I'd never been in/seen a major league baseball stadium except on TV, so it was quite something to be standing down there and to take it all in.

As usual, I'm quite proud of my wife. She was a bit nervous after the first sound check, and she couldn't help a few tears of emotion towards the end of the performance, but it went well.

I'll let you guys know if I find footage.

    So, go Mets go...

    What a gig!

We won't be able to get it here either, but best of luck to your wife!

We had planned to go and see a game when we were in San Fran in 2009, but enjoyed the city so much, we ran out of time.

Ah, so it was a day game (in the middle of the week?).  I guess I won't look for it on TV tonight then!

Hopefully, it will end up on YouTube for us to enjoy.

It's covered under the "...to have and to hold..." clause (you didn't think that applied to the wife did you?).
