Waves v9 and 64 bit Sonar 8.5.3
Unfortunately; for most of us Waves plugins have proved quite unsatisfactory for Sonar 8.5.3 64-bit users ... with iLok crashes as well ... as validated to me by cw tech support. Now Waves claims 64-bit with v9 and a common USB flash-drive Wave's License Cloud (to replace the h&llish iLok and ... supposedly no more 32-64 bit 'bridging' glitches): http://www.wavesupport.net/Objects/Images/Product%20Info/Supported_Hosts_Charts/V9_pc.html Are any of you sold on the $200 v9 update (to whatever your bundle is (Diamond, Mercury, etc.). Also, I'm not sure Waves v9 even works in Sonar 8.5.3 64-bit ... at all ... based on the chart. I'll try to call Waves during business hours to see if 'something' justifies shelling out $200 for their mishaps and belated 64-bit promises, IMO. IOWs, I'd like to be able to use my Diamond Wave$ plugins without all the shell, iLok, and jbridge clunk.

I'm using Waves V 9 with X1...and they work very well... The Waves plugs tend to eat the CPU, but sound wise they are awesome... and, while I do have an Ilok2, I'm glad I don't need it for the Waves plugs...

Waves probably lists the latest versions of the DAW's they support. Remember 8.5 is EOL.

cclarry bapu Upgrade to X1. Simples. +1 X1 Expanded D... Very well, $100 for cw (+ the expanded iirc) + $200 for Waves ... and your excellent validations ... so I'll get around to biting the bullet and upgrading to X1 at least I still need to call Waves about the 'extras', the CPU issues, and how the 64bit world is working for these.

Upgrade to X1. Simples. Not everyone considers migrating to X1 an "upgrade".

Not everyone considers migrating to X1 an "upgrade". Indeed! Unless the grass is seriously greener there, I'm gleeful with 8.5.3. Well I'll call Waves ... OK, called Waves Presales for my v9 upgrade: It "probably does NOT work in 8.5.3 64bit". So I'd have to upgrade to Sonar x1 ($99) and start over. Interestingly and redemptively, the new Diamond contains: -- "three V series plugins emulating Neves stuff (EQ and comps)" -- Guitar plugins -- a loudness meter -- a 1 knob filter (like for HPFs) -- and an "Overdrive" plugin (according to pre sales) I validated: 1) 64 bit CPU non-hogginess and stability for all plugins 2) The "cloud" USB is Waves version of the iLok ... if you "lose your USB flash drive (heaven forbid) ... you get one free one per year" :):):)
