Peace!!

http://soundcloud.com/aaudiomystiks/peace

Ok this track was retrieved from the lost hard drive, or The Vault as I like to call it.  I've esentially been working on this for 5 years, after I lost the first version I redid the track unsucsefully and for the last year I have been working on the bottom end of version one.

I'm happy now!!

Ok the song is about a woman, as always and I think the lyrics speak for themselves.  I suppose I have tried to create a 4/4 foot stamper complete with heavy electric guitars but with a couple of suprises.

Enjoy Peace

Hi Ben, you sure are an original. No idea why you're so angry  ; ), hope you find some..... peace. There is some , probably, unwanted distortion sputtering along in this, thought my speakers had given the ghost : )

Like Rikkie said, you are one of a kind.  This piece brought a smile to my lips, much like opening a time capsule from 20 years ago.  I had some trouble understanding all the words, but I suppose the lyrics weren't the raison d'etre.  The emotion does come through loud and clear, and that can often be all you need to communicate.  I sometimes suspect you may be a space traveler who landed in the wrong era.  Yet, your contributions on this forum can often be invaluable.  Peace.

    All the best,

Hey guys, thanks so much, sorry I haven't been able to contribute to the forum as much.  I will try and do a catch up today.  I've also got a lecture on the sublime to do and then a 500 word comparative essay on two art peices.  But enough about my life.

Rikkie, thanks can you describe this distortion or can anyone else hear it??  I do have this track pushing the averages a bit -12 to -9db RMS but also there is distortion on the main vocal.

Lynn: I am a spaceman and I certinaly feel sometimes I don't belong here, hence the angriness Rikkie.  Seriously though I am a little bitter all this talent and it's sitting in the garage going nowhere.

    James-Thank you very much.

Bapu, well that really is a compliment, WAR was sung by a black man and if I am getting close to sounding like a black man, downstairs must be starting to look like a black man too!!

Sounds like the distortion is from clipping in the levels on the bass. I'd be full of anger too if this is what I ended up with after 5 years.

There's definitely some distortion in the vox and the bass, but all in all an enjoyable track. I like the pause starting at 0:49. Ripping it out at 1:45 on the guitar! It's definitely experimental. Definitely look at your levels as there is some clipping. Maybe relax the threshold a little bit on your compression?

    Hey, Ben,

Cool song with lots of unique elements flowing in and out throughout the mix!  Your stuff is always different and very interesting, and you're never afraid to push the envelope.

To me, this one seems to have a raw, late 60's or early 70's vibe with a touch of modern "White Stripes" sounding, garage band energy mixed in for good measure.

The slight distortion on the bass and vocals doesn't bother me at all, and seems like it may have actually been a stylistic choice when you originally recorded the tracks.

Cool vintage sounding song, thanks for sharing!

What a terrific piece (of music that is --- pun intended) this is.  To me this song has a lot of the elements of a Frank Zappa song and that definitely is a compliment.  There are lots of interesting sounds going on but it all holds together.  You have gone outside the box on this one and that is good.
    Nice one!!!

Thanks guys, for listening and all the positive comments.

James (NightFox) def the song is about a girl, ****en my mind, Blowing my time, Wish you were mine, are lines spat out in the middle part of the song and are def about a girl and unrequited love.  But of course great lyrics can be interpreted any way you want.  Although I'm not saying these are my best lyrics, in fact I think I ad-libed most of them.

The lyrics are dark but I'm a clown and so they are also firmly tounge in cheek.  Woman do **** with mens minds, sorry ladies if you disagree and this track is a representation of that feeling.

Of course equally it could be sung by a general on the hill waiting to go into battle, hmm ok perhaps I was in two states of mind when I wrote this LoL.

The mix and sound is superb by the way. I loved the beat that came in at 1:00. And the vocals are brilliant!

    Hey Ben
My new FAVORITE from you.  I'm really diggin your vocal delivery and the way they sit perfect in this mix. On my end I'm hearing a real clean/clear mix.  The bass tone at times do make you think your hearing distortion but I think that just adds to the vibe of this piece.  If I had to nit-pick the mix it would be the drums sound whimpy compared to the dirty tones/heaviness of the other instruments. KUDOS on this piece!!

Hi Ben, in the first 20 seconds its the most obvious. Sounds like a high-gain guitar amp sputtering after a note has been played.  Maybe a quick gate could solve this.
