Transport Control In Playlist

I've been using the MOTU 828 MK3 for years and used the footswitch in to control start/stop in playlist, assigning it to SPACEBAR. I'm moving to the RME UFX and need to set up a pedal through my guitar processer that only sends cc# messages. ACT will let me do it when a project has focus but doesn't work with Playlist. Keybindings seem to only work with QWERTY keystrokes or NOTE on/off messages. Does anyone have any ideas ? I know there are other people out there who use X1 live, what is your solution? Any input would be appreciated.
