I always enjoy your tunes Rik.  Even after having my nylone string guitar for some time I'm always amazed at how good some fishing line strung accross a board can sound.

    Nice. stuff.

    Beautiful!

How many tracks of guitar? It's wierd cause some of the notes seem placed in different areas of the stereo field. Perhaps it's just some sort of stereo effect? Not that there is anything wrong with it. Just sounds like more than one guitar.
Also, what was your micing technique? Sounds very classical. When ever I record my nylon string it doesn't sound like a typical classical guitar sound which I would love to achieve. I recently recorded classical guitar in the dinning room that has hardwood floors and a bigger room sound than anywhere else in the house. Didn't help. Still did not achieve the typical classical guitar sound. Probably my playing. Ive tried letting my finger nails grow out a little but couldn't take the way they felt and just but them off.

Hi Todd, this is one stereo track, recorded with a noname pencil mic at the twelth fret angled a bit towards the soundhole, 5 to 6 inches from the guitar and the DI signal straight in the interface. I use the channel tools to position the two signals in the stereo field. I adjust the preamp on the guitar, Lag cheap plywood Chinese wonder, so it's just lows and low mids. The mic is mainly highs and mids because the guitar doesn't has a lot of lows acoustically.  I usually use two reverbs, a ambient type reverb, Sonitus, as an insert and Perfect space as a  send. This way the DI signal is not to direct. A little bit of compression from the pro-channel, high pass filter just to get rid of some "thumps " and "rumbles". I use this method of recording because I don't have a nice guitar or a nice space to record in, this gets the Job done. I use a minimal amount of nail, just to give the notes a bit of an edge. Don't know if you normally play steel string guitars, but it's a completely different technique.
