SONAR XL QUESTION FROM A FNG.
Hello to all, i thank you for taking the time... so i have SonarXL 7, and to be honest, this is the first time i am actually using this software. My questions are these: 1. does anyone know of a website i can go to learn how to use this software?i have tried groove 3 and macprovideo but neither offer sonarxl. 2. since it has been discontinued, if i buy the training videos for sonar x1, how much will it resemble the xl version. i should note that while i've had this software for some time now, i have been using studio1 for about a year and i am pretty familiar with how to record (somewhat because you are always learning) Thank you all for any help. Mario

Welcome! One place to look is the CakeTV. Look at the stickies on the top of the page. There's a lot of stuff in Youtube. And of course, the manual and tutorials in the help files are the first place to go. X1 is very much different from XL7.

SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

I just realized how confusing Cakewalk's product names must be, I see an X and I immediately assume it's the newest version. But a quick search shows XL as actually being a Home Studio version of Cakewalk going back to the 90's. SO I would also assume that all info from the Home Studio version must be what you might need to read up on. The the majority of features and layout is the same on all Cakewalk software going way back in time.So for the basics I think any Cakewalk tutorials will be of help. All but X1 which is a bit different.

abortivecreation if i buy the training videos for sonar x1, how much will it resemble the xl version. As noted, X1 does not resemble Sonar Home Studio7 XL at all. While the concepts may be similar, the SHS7XL GUI is radically different from X1. The SHS7 GUI is fairly intuitive, for the most part. You might want to browse the Home Studio forum for threads dealing with specific questions. Is there anything in particular that you need help with?
