Officially 20 years
So today July 26th, 2012 marks 20years of being completely Alcohol free. I have not had even a sip of alcohol in this time. No..............I never had a DUI or major incident.............................though I made lots of very dumb decisions ,many regrettable. Lost some friends, hurt others, wasted time, money and life. So I knew I should quit, that time came, so on a wager with a buddy.................I quit. (posted that story on a previous thread) For 20 years I have not looked back and never plan to. It is highly possible that if I make it to 80 years old  I may have to down a "Pint" or 2.... Health wise I wouldn't bet the "house" on it............................ Anyways its 12:41am Pacific Time..................I'm the only one up, even my dog is in bed...........and I'm so stoked I can't think about sleep... I'm actually sitting here torn between tears and laughter. Wish I didn't have to work tomorrow, I'd love to take my boys fishing just to celebrate and talk . Its been a long tough year and fishing sounds good............. Buuuuuuuut, with my neck healing ever so slowly we are still way behind at my shop and I really need the $$$ So work it is...... This whole neck surgery, while being self employed ,has hit us harder than expected..............  That being said, I will stop complaining I am blessed to have the work when others don't. I am blessed to break free of drugs and alcohol and change my coarse. I am blessed to have this day to remember. I am blessed with a beautiful wife and healthy kids. Sorry to ramble.........................its just one of those nights. You guys have a really good day.

I have given that much thought.....................I will likely die sober........... I think its more of a light hearted motivation to live past 80 Yeah and I would lose the bet,my buddy Mac still hasn't smoked.................and since our wager he's had quadruple bi-pass surgery so he's pretty motivated.........

Hi Beagle,recovery from the surgery itself has been good ,actually much better than expected. Recovery from my symptoms has been very slow ,sometimes looking good,sometimes.......meh. Business wise has been where I've taken the hit...................I'm still busy but losing money every month. Largely because I had stayed lean and mean doing a lot of work myself. I always could turn a small profit because of little overhead. But to keep my accounts and contracts I've had to hire guys ............... With the local tax increases,L&I and U.I. my pricing doesn't fit the model. Combine that with rookie mistakes and some lack of worker motivation ............... Contracts paying slow 60-90 days........................ You see what I mean. I am driving and doing some moderate lifting so I have a little better control now, although my Neuro doesn't see me having a complete recovery of previous symptoms, more like 40-50%.............................so I will need to change my business plan moving forward,I have already begun that. Actually we need to take to take a more serious look long term and begin altering our previous plans some what........... All and all I feel better than I did before the surgery,there is just a few life changes heading my way.

Congrats to you zungle! That's a MAJOR accomplishment. You can accomplish anything if you commit to it. When I was fighting my addiction to narcotics due to the cancer treatments I was told I would be an addict the rest of my life. Now that I am over the cancer treatments and all that came with it the addict thing never appeared. I didn't have the cravings like everyone said. I don't have any desire for narcotics at all!!It never happened and I am so grateful for that. Good luck and best wishes for the future for you and your family. As long as you have your health and family life is good!
