Multi Sound Problem
Hello all, I've posted at another Forum with no response, thought I would try this one. I'm Trying to get 3 different Pipe instruments to sound at once in real time, I don't want to record just play notes. I'm have Sonar 7, Windows XP and using a M-Audo Axiom 61 keyboard controller for the project. I have 3 Midi Tracks for the instrument and each one on IN Chan 1 and OUT TSS-1, I can only hear the sound of the Track that's highlighted. I've tried selecting the 3 Tracks and Arming them, that didn't work either. Is it even possible using the inboard sound syn to do this. Thanks for any help.

You can hear a soft synth track play live if the input echo is enabled. The default setting is Always Echo Current Midi Track in Options>Global>General tab. That means when you select a track it enables input echo for that track. You can manually enable the input echo for the other tracks you want to hear live. I don't have a keyboard connected to check this, but it should work.

Hello Chappel, made sure that the echo are checked which they are and changed piccolo track to channel 1, flute track to channel 2 and pan flute track to channel 3. Each track In is Omni and the Out is TSS-1. I can hear each track when highlighted Ok but still unable to hear the three tracks at the same time when I activate each track by pressing Ctrl key on the computer keyboard. Back to the drawing board, I'll work on it tomorrow, thanks for your help.

Each track has a MIDI Echo button. There are three options if you click it: Off, Auto, and On. It is Auto by default when you select a track. Click on the Echo button of each track you want to use so it is "On", not set to "Auto-thru". The button will be a different colour depending on if it is set to On or Auto. If necessary (I don't think it should be...) select all three tracks, not just one.

+1 Whenever you want multiple MIDI tracks to respond to input, you must turn on Input Echo on each track.

Eddie, are you using Sonar 7 or Sonar Home Studio 7? I can post a screen shot of what you should be seeing, but I need to know exactly which version you are working with. SHS7 has a somewhat unique interface.

I want to Thank Chappel, SToons, daveny5 and RobertB for your help and knowledge. I can hear the Three Instrument Tracks play at once when I engaged the Input Echo Button . Can also record all three tracks at once and on playback I'm able to hear each instrument track play separately. For RobertB I'm using Sonar 7 Producer Edition and Thanks for suggesting the screen shot all is well and working. Now its time to make some music.
