Differences between Rapture LE and Rapture??

I have Sonar X1 Producer. It includes Rapture LE.

Do I need to upgrade to get the full version of Rapture? If so, what more do I get with the upgrade?

Thanks in advance.

You need to upgrade your version of Rapture yes, not Sonar.

For this you get full editing capability and, I think, more preset patches.

I don't have full Rapture, but I seem to recall that a key feature was the ability to load your own waveforms into the wavetable "oscillators".

All else is in doubt, so this is the truth I cling to.

You can load your own samples into a new program or old one.

You can edit a new program or tweak an old one.

You can save both kinds of programs.

You have something like 2000 programs, and that is before you download stuff like the free Muzeum - both programs and samples of old synths.  And, of course, you can work on them and save them as new patches.

Basically, you get a synth, not a preset player.  If you have the urge to tweak to make a patch fit your song better, Rapture is the way to go.

If you are going to upgrade from X1 Pro, you might want to wait since it is likely (considering the past history of Cakewalk's upgrades) that the full Rapture will be included.  The bad thing is there is no timeline on a paid upgrade/new X1.

Hi, pdarg. Here's how I'd suggest thinking about it: If you really love Rapture LE, then the full version is quite a bit more loveable in its options and versatility. But if you don't really love Rapture LE (or don't find yourself using it all that much), then I would probably recommend against upgrading. The full version is very cool, I love it, but then I think LE is also very cool, which is not something I usually consider with "Limited Edition" plugs. --Joe "upgrading doesn't make it better, but it sure makes it more customizable" Tabby

...what more do I get with the upgrade?
I have never bothered to install LE, as I already had the full version before LE became part of the Sonar bundle.  However I notice that LE appears to lack the graphic envelopes and LFOs.  I regard these features as very important, essential even.  If you use Dimension Pro, you will be familiar with them.
