    SONAR LE is not for purchase. It comes bundled with hardware by a licensing arrangement with Cakewalk.  here

    Your only choice for purchase then is SONAR Essential or another version further up the line..

    If you just click on the Music software link at the page it will take you to more information and even a comparison between the different SONAR versions.

    pssst! Hey Mudgel, look here ---> http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-X1G31.00-20E

    LE = $59 -> upgrade to Essentials = $79 Total = $138 (all downloads)

    Essentials = $99 (retail store - no download)

    Essentials is essentially Home Studio which is now discontinued.

    I'd go with Essentials. You get more!

    I  guess Cakewalk can't keep their own marketing story straight. Perhaps not too many hardware manufacturers want to bundle it so they're now selling it themselves.

    Yup....  It's kind of a teaser product. Better to get X1 essentials if you just want to try it out.  I have it and it's really all and more than I need in a DAW platform.

    If you follow the link in my first post you'll clearly see what Cakewalk have to say about SONAR LE themsleves. I was merely giving the OP info based on what I got off the Cakewalk site.

    Hey if they can't get their own info straight.

    Perhaps you could could brush up on your comprehension - maybe night classes

    As has been pointed out there has been a mistake - not mine but cakewalk's

    Follow the links - http://www.cakewalk.com/Products/SONARLE/default.aspx you can also get there by clicking on the Music Software link at the top of this page ->  LE Products -> then click the SONAR LE Icon

    or the following link., but I don't know what sequence of clicks gets you there.

    http://www.store.cakewalk.com/b2cus/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10-X1G31.00-20E

    guess it depends on which one you find first. Hence the coment in my second post.

    LE stands for Limited Edition and it lacks allot of things

    allot=is to allocate
    alot=is not a word
    a lot=mucho, many, quite a few

    Other than that, CJ is correct.

    Also if you hurry up and purchase Essentials before July 31st, you'll actually get Studio.  Pretty good bargain.

    Jory, I noticed that you have been a member since 2007.
    Do you already have another Cakewalk product?
    If so, you can download the X1 Essential upgrade for $59 or $79, depending on where you are starting from.
    I really wouldn't waste my time on LE.

    you said sonar le is not for sale(did i miss-read that?)is that why you stoop to personal insults on fellow cakewalk forum members saying i need night classes,like i cant read or something ?...thats cheap but is expected,just like your constant sonar whining.
    instead you brush it off on cakewalk by taking a jab at them..
    personal attacks on cakewalk and other forum users?(the night classes)
    you should be very proud of yourself.

    This is a trimmed down version of Studio and Producer but does all the basic recording. Essentials look very enticing even though I have Producer, Essentials for $99 is a No Brainer if you are a beginner and you can upgrade to Studio or Producer in the future along with a discount. The only reason why I wouldn't get Essential is if I already owned an LE version and like using it. The LE version is also upgradable with a discount.

    To be fair, LE was not for sale until recently. It was only included with certain hardware purchases.
    The LE info page has not been updated to reflect this so not everyone knows.
    And there's always the possibility that it may not always be buyable standalone. But for now it is in the form of a "Starter Kit".
    It looks like they're pulling out all the stops to get new users. Counting up all the new forum users it seems to be working.

    Essentials is still the better deal though, specially with the free upgrade to Studio!

    I ahve LE installed on my leisure lap top and it's pretty cool. But it's buggy and very limited when it comes to tools and functions. I only use it as a sketch pad and freebie VST test field. If you want something solid, then get Essentials. It's absolutely worth it!

    Not that I want to get into the middle of this squabble, but I don't see anything on the link mudgel gave that says LE is not for purchase. However, it doesn't say it is either.
