ubiquitousBubbaI give my subconsciousness a hard time, but the truth is that it does all the hard work. I start pondering an idea, then toss it down there to be mauled by my subconscious. Some time later, I'll check it out and there's a finished product lurking the darkness. ...
I do this a lot ... mostly because I have a lot of unfinished poems, stories, and many other things that have no designation whatsoever. Funny thing happened on the way to a story, a couple of months ago I started another novel, and about 15 of those moments have already been used up in it ...
I have no idea how that happens, but it seems like there is a place for all the stuff and if you trust your "innards" (as I call it) ... they WILL come back to help and shine in some very interesting spots.
In the acting/stage side of things, I call this "trust" ... because it is one of the most important part of the actor's learning ... and I have never met an actor that had problems with his/her lines, that did not "trust" their recall ability to be ... "right there" when it needed to be. This also works in music and with musicians, as there is a slight problem/issue when folks are tuned in really hard, and the change/clue to go back, comes up, and all of a sudden ... your lost because you wanted to live that moment some more. This happens on stage as well, but is much easier to cover up than it might be with music.
As in the example above, a bit more rehearsal, and study as to why/how the person flew out, would help that person become an even better musician ... not to mention others if they are capable of sharing the details -- which some folks don't want to hear, because the first thing they say is ... you missed the blah and blah ... which is often the hardest thing to get over and work with!
ubiquitousBubba ...Some of the best ideas have to bake for a long time in there before they're ready to claw their way out.
I like to say, in this area that the amount of baking time is relative ... it's never the same and it might come up differently at different times. I've had the same "visual" moment, give me 15 poems, for example. And I figure that it might come up again, and then again, it might not!
