Thanks Pedro. I'll listen to some of those for more inspiration.
And you can bet if I'm ever gonna play anything, it will be as a solo and upfront! :) (at least that's what they accuse me of when I play the piano.) :)
But how I use it? Well, it will probably be sorta like a 6-year-old....
I do say it all th etime, but some guitar players get crispy over it ... but when you listen to Terje Rypdal/David Darling's album "Eos" (skip the first cut ... you have been warned!) ... you will find this is just chamber music for electric guitar and a bass/cello with some of the early effects ... and it makes for some very pretty things that really go around one's head ... I call it "chamber music" because it is the only thing that will ever express it properly and correctly. But it is pretty ... and then some ... and I can easily see, someone doing this ... with a piano, instead of a guitar, or a piano with a bass alone ... alone ... but ... unffortunately it is this old man fool speaking of imaginary musics ...

Like a big fiddle, only way easier to play (due to not having to have your hands in such a ridiculously cramped position and arms up in the air.) I have NO idea how they do that!
Just got out some Level 3 piano books and am trying to play them. Sorta fun. Sounds terrible, but I can find the notes most of the time. :)

Well, you could always come up with THE heavily resarched, documented, critically important transcription for cello of Cage's 4'33" of silence for prepared piano. Maybe, even make a career of it... write and publish a book about how Cage's use of piano was some sort of psychological something, when underneath he really wanted to write it for cello. <smile> As for cellists, and suggested listening, Jacqueline du Pre tragically had a very short career, and died very young from MS, but was beyond marvelous. Paul Tortelier would be another high recommendation. As for works, the Dvorak is obvious, Elgar's concerto is wonderful, and in a more unusual, but great CD, Therese Ryan transcribed many of Faure's art songs for cello (and also played Faure's works for cello) in a CD titled Romance. Faure's Elegy is incredible - very emotional and very intense.

Thanks for that. Jon(buoy) introduced me to Jacqueline du Pre and I loved the movie about her and her sister and have since watched some clips on youtube. I should do that again, including these others you've mentioned.

I don't know anything about cellos (cellii) (celly) that instrument, but you should probably keep the intake fans free of dust. I hear that can be bad.
