Step Sequencer Techniques

Just wondering if anyone had a link to some step-sequencer tips, shortcuts, techniques, etc?

I've not used it much, but I have a few projects that would be benefitted by some techniques that I know exist... I just have no idea how to do them haha

For example, filling a 4 bar loop of eighth notes quickly, rather than clicking on each note.  I swear I've seen that done, which I knew how!
