See if the bypass is on. There is a bypass for all FX and it will cause all FX to be grayed out.

Darn, I closed and reopened and it's ok now. I didn't get to learn how to fix this. Where would you look for a bypass for all?

To globally bypass all effects in a project ● Do one of the following: ○ In the Control Bar’s Mix module, click the Bypass all Effects button . ○ Press E. All effects bins in the active project are temporarily bypassed. To restore the bins to their original state, click the Bypass all Effects button again. Note: The Bypass all Effects option is only a temporary toggle, and is not saved with the project.

Aha! thanks John. I'm betting that's what I did. Hit E by mistake. (So close to W)

It's a fun one to check what your mix sounded like before and after. If you use proper gain staging so that ever effected added doesn't result in a loudness increase, you can easily see a good before and after (without your volumes screwing up). Fun to show people who are clueless about mixing.

Yes a cool discovery for me. That's what happened for sure. All of a sudden my mix died on me. "WTF?" Lol

Its really a neat feature. I have had occasion to use it. Its one of those things that if you don't know about it it wont show up easily as something to think about. Notice the note at the bottom of the Help file copy it says that its not meant to be on a project level but a session level. My words . Thats why when you restarted it went away.

I'm still pretty new at this and, tho I'm getting commercial volume levels now out of my mix, (pre-mastering) I'm not sure I understand about gain staging and tend to coax up levels a bit with each plugin. (EG, on compression, a touch of line in and line out boost.) Is this not a good idea? Glenn
