Faces Of Tyranny (Mix 2)

Good Evening everyone.

This is a new direction for me for at least half of the track, a kind of Jazz number.
Feedback is much appreciated as always.

Updated to include some of the advice given.:

Thanks
Mark.

Hey that Isabella chick is "hot..." This is different for you. That sax hits a few stinky notes, not many, you know where there are.

I like your tune. It morph's in to a more traditional you.

Mark this sounds very nice , I did think the Sax was just a bit over the top with the rest of the mix . Maybe alittle reverb on the Sax would sound good  but not too much .
The song sounds great but as soon as the Sax started everything else behind it sort got lost in my ears . Bring down the Sax and add alittle reverb to the Sax , it sounded to me like it was too dry in the mix .

I like the tune - James

I agree with the night fox, too loud and dry that sax is.

(a bit of melodyne on those sour notes will help them too)

Other than that it all comes together well.

Hey Mark, I really liked the song. I would agree with the others on the sax needing sweetened up slightly with some reverb. If it were me I might even experiment with a very slight delay on the sax. This is JMO, right around 1:32-1:39 the cymbals seem to be a little overdone for my taste...JMO and only MO though. Nice work !

I agree with the others about the sax, but this is a good song in search of the right mix.  A tweak here and a tweak there, and you're good to go.

Agree with the comments so far. It's not far away. Do the tweaks and you're done. I liked it overall, but not sure about the Jazz Funk description personally. Don't know what it is exactly , but I wouldn't call it that.

Dude that has such an Enigma vibe. I hardly hear that anywhere else. I'm torn about the sax sound. Maybe if you ran it through the Cakewalk Amp Sim w/ a vinyl sample you could make it sound like it's from an old record. The melody is perfect. It sounds weary.

i love everything about this except the sax.  i mean...the melody is cool and i'm always one to appreciate someone pushing the artistic envelope, but i'm wondering if it could be replaced by another instrument, or maybe even an alto sax, or clarinet, or vocal aria-ish type track--maybe synths/ OR like the other suggestions perhaps place it embedded deeper and less pronounced in the mix/ with verb and/or delay.  i'm only saying this because like Moe pointed out, this screams Enigma, which is super awesome - but the juxtaposition of the sax vibe against this beautiful tapestry is something i'm on the fence about.

Thank you all for your advice. I've now updated the mix and added a little reverb to the sax.

I like the feel of it, mark.  I could have used a bit of vocal to fill it up.  It seems like a backing track waiting for something to lead.  A very nice backing track.

Hey there Mark, listening again and this mix sounds great.

That sax feels a little far off in the mix, but it sounds good.

The chick that's moaning sounds really good.

And the percussive stuff that comes in after her, with the pads?

    It all works "really well."

The additions after 3:30 work really well.

I'm ambivalent about the news cast. I believe we are closer today "than ever before" to nuclear war... I believe very unfortunately that it comes soon. :-(

Good job on the remix brother.
