Yeah, saw that we needed a bump - I guess that means there was another deletion, ya? @Steve - Sure, I'd like to see what the answers were. I copied your instructions to a Word document so I could keep them too.

Craig, I've just noticed that the book - Chambers Crossword Manual - that many setters and solvers consider the crossword 'bible' over here (in fact, I used my battered old copy to 'borrow' some of those clues from ) is available on Amazon.com HERE. Author Don Manley is a long time composer of great esteem, and is highly respected as one of the finest of all time. I'd highly recommend anyone with an interest gets themselves a copy.

- A stiff examination? (4,6) = POST MORTEM
- A number of people (11) = ANAESTHETIC
- A bar of soap? (3,6,6) = THE ROVERS RETURN (It's the name of the pub/bar in British soap opera Coronation Street)
- A wicked thing? (6) = CANDLE
- A jammed cylinder (5,4) = SWISS ROLL
- Presumably one doesn't run after it? (4,5) = LAST TRAIN
- He was rushed almost from the start (5) = MOSES
- 014? (6,5) = DOUBLE AGENT ('007' × 2)

This thing of calling everyone 'guys', regardless of gender...just watching the women's marathon and the commentator said 'the Russian's running well but she won't catch these guys'..makes no sense to me.

I think a great concept album would use a cryptic crossword for each song title! For example: Paint It Canine (5,3)
