*SOLVED* Bit Depth changed in a session. Don't know why, can't change it back (image)

I originally set my preferences for new projects to 24/96k. The current session I'm working on was created at 24/96 and all the audio was recorded at those settings.

At some point, the new project settings changed to 16/44.1. I think this happened after exporting an mp3 at those settings. Now, Sonar says my project is 16/96 (see yellow circle top) ... and new audio that's recorded gets recorded at 16 bits.

W.T.F.

So, I changed from WDM to ASIO drivers to see if that helped but it doesn't. The only thing that changed is that now the bit depth preference is grayed out (see middle circle) but it says 24 bit.

W.T.F.

The bottom yellow circle, you can see that one of the originally recorded audio pieces is in fact 24/96.

Um, so can someone help me sort this out? Why did the bit depth change? Why can't I change it back??

Using Roland OctaCapture interface. Computer specs below in sig.

im trying to figure out why your running your roland using anything except asio drivers?
thats a place to start right there.
maybe someone with serious bit depth skills will chi9me in but im how did you inport the mp3 into sonar ?
but seriously, you need to be using that octo under asio bro.

Hey Charlie ... thanks man. I just realized that I even had the option of ASIO vs. WDM. That showed up nowhere in the setup for the Octacapture or X1 that I saw.

I've got it on ASIO now, and will be keeping it  that way.

However, I do still have a problem with mixed bit depths in this session. New audio that is recorded is recorded at 16 bits. F'n weird.

it might be how you imported the mp3 and sonar isnt taking your newer tracks to the sample rate you want..theres another thread going on right now i would check out in the meantime untill someone starts getting into this one...right here.

    Found it!

It was in Preferences->File->Audio data and set the record bit depth there.

    Fixed!!
