Some people call me Maurice SPLAT Pro lifetime, ADK 6 core 3.6Ghz with 32 GB RAM, SSD 1TB system drive, 3 3TB regular drives for samples, recordings and misc. Behringer X Touch, UAD Apollo Quad. 2 UAD2 Quads PCI (i think - inside the box whatever that is), Console 1. More guitars (40??) and synths (hard and soft) than talent. Zendrum!!!

Back when I was an over well paid computer consultant I used to get a new box often (it was a write-off so why not?). About five months ago I finally upgraded from two seven year-old boxes-of-rocks to an i5 with 12 GB of RAM plus 5 TB of disk space. Someday I'll need to get a completely new and even better box so I can upgrade to X1, X1a, X1b, X1c, X1d, X2, X2a, or whatever update they're on at that time...
Time for all of you to head over to Beyond My DAW!

I need a new DAW PC. Basically more hard drive space. I'm using 50% of my 160GB C drive with just 8.5.3 Producer and all the normal synths that come with. Not enough room left for my taste to put X1-X2 on the drive and have room for current projects. The Q6600 2.8khz 4 core with 4Gb of ram is outdated now. It still works like a charm when the user isn't screwing it up. The old black box is noisey though, the mics can hear it. I'd like to get a custom built quiet monster with a 750 Gb C drive, 8 cores, 8Gb of ram, etc. $$$$

I think you'll find that it's hard to find drives that small Craig. 3 TB's are starting to become common, 1 TB's are getting difficult to locate. That's the GOOD part of things now-a-days! Plus 8 GB of RAM isn't that much any more.

you? Is the biannual upgrade cycle a thing of the past? Was it ever present? Antec Insulated case AMD Barton 3700+ XP Pro sp2 2gigs of RAM 2x250 SATA 48XDVD/CDR/Burner NVidia GFX 4000 2xAP2496's 24" SOYO Flat Screen LCD CW HS7 CW Professional 7 SHS4 SF AS8 SF AS9 30-40 DX and VST plugins I get what I need out of this old bugger......................................... I am not upgrading til this thing dies. I know this set up forward and backward, it never glitches ,bugs, flickers or jitters. I'd rather buy guitars and play with them/work on 'em etc................. Than buy/upgrade pc's and software , heck by the time most guys get upgraded updated and debugged, they are thinking about the next new thing. In the mean time I've bought and sold and tinkered with 10 -15 cool guitars.... P.S......... you should see my back up system............ One old ass....AMD Duron 1200 Thundbird Overclocked,2gigs ram,2-80g IDE's,48Xburner,1-AP2496,15"LCD.................. Grandpa still gets 'er up when need be
