Recommended reading

Mixerman is on a roll these days, huh? I wonder if he's abandoned the studio to become a full-time author now. He does have an entertaining style. The "Daily Adventures of Mixerman" taught me everything I know about producing.

Have you read his mixing one as well? 

You mean "The Zen of Mixing" (or something like that?).  It's a great read.  It's not something from which you're going to learn compression techniques, for example.  For that, go to the standards by Izhaki or Senior.  But it's truely entertaining and covers a lot of things not in the standards, like how to get along with a band member's controlling girlfriend.  At this point, I'd read anything by this guy and expect to be entertained and even educated to a certain extent.
 
One caution, though.  He takes a dim view of digital sound production, which is at the heart of what most of us here do.
