DSP Accelerator

I'm planning on a new recording box when 8 is ready.
With a fast i7 is an accelerator card necessary?
 
I have a UAD 1 but PCI.....
Tired of tossing out hardware and buying new over and over....

      Only if you plan on using UAD software. i7 is a powerful class of processors but any PC can be bought down with enough of a load.
