Sure beats the side effects listed for most of the drugs advertised on TV
You got that right. I have beed prescribed several drugs that, after reading the insert, (and I always do)... I refused to take. Even over the counter meds can be really dangerous. Some people have had really bad and weird side effects from Allegra. Years ago when the acid reducer pills first came out, IIRC the first one was Tagamet. I tried it and it made me feel really mentally crazy. I checked, that is a side effect... Since then I have always read the insert and if the list of possible side effects is as long as my arm... forget it, I'm moving on to something else.
Maggot therapy sounds like something that works. Native Americans used different moss and lichen to disinfect wounds. We have lost a lot of natural medicine that probably worked well. I think that modern antibiotics and vaccines did so much to help people that everyone completely dismissed herbal medicine. Also there is all the bunko herbal medicines these days that seem to do nothing. I think we would do well to re-discover some of the medicine of our forefathers.. not all mind you, bleeding does not help.
My great or GG grandmother was a travelling doctor (on horseback). My mom used to have her books, they were big books and were all about what herbs, barks, and whatnot to use for which ailment. My sister who was a nurse got them. I need to try to get them copied. I was always interested in reading them one day.
I have bad tiinitis, like many of us. I also have a bad back and have taken a lot of ibuprofen over the least ten years. I figured it was a little safer than taking tylenol every day. (There is a pretty high risk of kidney damage with taking tylenol every day). Anyway, recently.. due to some new back meds I was able to leave off the ibuprofen for a few days. When I took three a few days later my tiinitis got like 10x as bad within about 30 min. I had no idea what I had been living with until being without it (the loud ringing) for a few days. I still have it all the time but without the ibuprofen it isn't nearly as bad... I'd really love to get rid of it.
OTC drugs can be really bad for you especially pain meds. The opiates are less harmful but addictive so the govt gives us stuff that will kill our liver and kidneys instead. I am glad they have my welfare in mind.. pffft.
Something else... why the heck does anyone need FDA approval to use maggots??? A person should be free to order them and use them if they want to. At least if we were really free...
