Todays installation questions......
One of my old projects has session drummer 2 in it. I have the disc version of Sonar 7PE and it is on that disc - question is can I install it without installing the whole thing - don't really want to if I can help it. If I go ahead with the install process will it allow me to pivk and choose what I want ? Also I'm missing the follwing fx - anybody know in which version these were in ( will be 5, 7 or 8) and again if I can just install these and not the whole thing. Classic Flanger Classic Chorus Classic Reverb Cakewalk FX compressor/gate Cakewalk FX Limiter Cakewalk FX Flanger I also seem to remember d/l a bunch of stuff that CW made availbale for free - wondering if they were in this - looked at my acount though and no sign of anythign like it - mebbe 'cos they were freebies ?

Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain. Karma has a way of finding its own way home.

Paulo, WRT to the free stuff, they are available on the cakewalk store. They do install in a funky place so you have to either point yor SONAR to them or move them into your cakewalk vstplugins folder. I think you're still on 32bit so they will be fine, however when/if you go 64bit they are DX plugs and you'll need a wrapper thans to John and a search of my own I found these: http://vb-audio.pagesperso-orange.fr/us/products/dxrack/dxrack.htm http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/printview.php?t=177538&start=0 Both are free. Word of caution on the 64bit version of the second one. It only seems (for me) to find 64bit DX/DXi plugs even tough I point to where the 32bit DX/DXi plugs are located. The 32bit version and the first link (which is only 32bit) both find the 32bit DX/DXi plugs if your path points to them. Both operate a little differently. I tend to like the second link's product a bit more. HTH.

When I transfered some SD2 projects to 8.5.3 Pro and SD3, I got a pop up asking if I wanted to install SD3 instead. Yes, and then it worked.

Wookiee If it helps there is an article in this months Sound On Sound on just how to install Session drummer 2 and all its associated files see http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/aug12/articles/sonar-tech-0812.htm if you have a subscription or in about four months if you do not (sorry). Thanks wookie - I was hoping that would be the case - did it this am, so I'm good to go now. BTW, in searching for some of my old freebie vsts that I was fond of, I came across another Alchemy. Maybe you already have it, but if not give it a try, some very useable sounds for your style.

Got me some new ones, so I'm good to go now. I'll prolly never use them, but just wanted them for the few old projects that were looking for them so that I don't have to go in and start replacing them now. When the 64 bit day comes, I prolly won't bother as I'll still be able to access the projects in 32 bit.

Understanding the way the two tools work, wanting the ability for old projects to load (using those 32bit DX plugs) I'd say the second one will work better, as the first will only work in the instance of deciding to add the older plugs to a new project. JMO.
