There Are Two Things I Can't Stand About You (Blues)
Maybe you might have known someone that might make a good subject for a verse in this song? I was going for a playing-live-in-a-small-Blues-club-venue sound in this number. I was also just trying to have some fun and hope some of it comes through. Hopefully, it might bring a smile to your face. As always, I would be grateful for any suggestions, crit's, and/or comments. Thanks. There Are Two Things I Can't Stand About You http://www.soundclick.com/bands/page_music.cfm?bandID=963481 Freddy J

Well done, Freddy. This sounds like some good, old fashioned road house blues. The overall production sounds warm and organic on my speakers, much like a vintage recording. My only suggestion would be to pan the harmonica away from the guitar solo a bit to give each its own space. However, if you don't change a thing, this will still stand the test of time.

Even a small blues club has some "verb". That was about all it lacked. Maybe a samll room verb on the 2 bus? Excellent sound and song Freddy.

Cool tune Freddy... I believe the harp might be more effective, if you lay out during the vocal parts... or maybe just fill the holes...

This is Freddy blues. Straight forward solid song. Seems like in the old days when the girls left me they always had more than two things they didn't like about me. Go figure! :-)

Newpen: Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum! Hi Lynn. Thanks for listening and for the feedback. I get what you are suggesting, and guitar and harp could and should be separated a bit more. Thanks again. Hello Bapu! Thanks for the listen and comments. Good suggestion and when I go back to fix up this number it will have some room verb added. Hey Frank. I toyed with doing what you suggest when I was recording but I let my enthusiasm get the best of me :>( I am working on another Blues number and when I get to the harp I will take your comments to heart and try to restrain myself. Thanks for the good feedback. I don't get it Warren. The only thing that I can figure is that those girls had absolutely no taste. Thanks for listening and the kind comments. Freddy J

I agree with Frank on the harp over the vox. Nice Blues, cool lyrics, love the title. Daryl

nice blues tune. I like the guitar crunch.... I think it needs some small room verb to give it that "in a hole in the wall blues club" sound.

Sounds great! Well played and mixed. Great singing as always.
As far as the lyrics, it about the girl, the buddy and the politician, they don't seem related. Maybe you can tied it all together if you mention in the chorus about two faced people in general and they fall into that category, so you don't like them. I am not a lyricist, but that is my 2 cents.

Great blues tune. I had my volume down low so the vocal didn't immediately come through strong for me. A little bump in my volume seemed to take care of that. It is up to you if you want to pan/eq those parts away from one another...but I thought to myself in a real club scenareo they would be all over one another lol. So I guess its about how you want it. Ain't it always?

Hi Daryl. Thanks for the feedback. Both you and Frank have a good point. Although I thought Little Walter was great, sometimes when he played for Muddy Waters he would be blowing all over Muddy's vocals. I didn't like it when Little Walter did it --- so, shame on me ;>) Thanks James. Now that you mention it --- I might go pour myself a cold one ---- cheers!! Hey Daren. Thanks for the feedback. When I get around to a re-do, I'll not only cut back on the amount of harp but do a bit better on giving vocals and harp some space. Hello Herb. Thanks for listening and the comments. Ya, a touch of room verb might better give that club venue touch that I was looking for. Thanks. Thanks for the kind words Makke. I'm very glad you like it!! Hi Vicente. Thanks for the kind words and feedback. I'll have to go back and have a look at the lyrics to see what I can do about the flow. Hey Starise. I appreciate your taking the time to listen and respond. Since I don't know what I am doing in the realm of recording I am always very receptive to what is being suggested to me. Now you have given me an option to think about ---- gosh!!! ;>) Thanks again for the valued feedback. Freddy J

Hi Freddy, Cool tune...nice smoky, roadhouse vibe and vintage tones. I agree with Frank (notnat) about the harp but, overall, the mix sounds great to me.
