AmlitubeX
I tried to use Amplitubexgear, but it says my 10 day trial has expired & wants a S/N. Do I need to buy this plug-in? The only thing I want to do is brighten up my guitar track, and I know there are a bunch of EQ modules to do this--I just want the simplest one. I'm a total newbie, and am overwhelmed by the complexity of my Sonar Essentials X1. Jerry G

I can't answer the Amplitube question but try inserting an EQ as you would Amplitube. Sonitus:fx EQ is a good starting point. If you choose the "Default" preset try boosting Band 5 by moving the slider to the right. There is also a preset called "Treble Boost" you could try. Sometimes better results come from cutting bass or low mids but this is a good place to start. Of course the track eq's would do the same job but might be a little tougher to figure out in the beginning. You might as well start tweaking now, eventually you have to learn to use an EQ and of course nothing you change is permanent unless you permanently apply or "process" an effect to a track and then save.

SToons gave some great advice.. but I'd like to add that: Aplitube has a very interesting version called Amplitube Custom Shop. It give you a free version of Amplitube 3, + desktop access to a web store that allows a la carte purchases of gear.. Give this a shot as well, if you are looking not to spend, "several hundred $ on the IK stuff." You know.. if you just want a few bits and pieces and things to check out... http://www.ikmultimedia.com/products/amplitubecs/ Don't stress the complexity of production, we've all been there. Cheers

SToons - SONAR Essentials does not come with Sonitus stuff. It does have a couple of other EQs, the one inherited from Project 5 and the FX series. jg1 - Don't expect it to come to fast. There is a lot to learn. Trust your ears. Amplitube is much more than an EQ but you have options when it comes to ampsims like Amplitube. If you are on a budget there are many free ampsims to check out. You might want to spend some time at www.kvraudio.com good luck

scook SToons - SONAR Essentials does not come with Sonitus stuff. It does have a couple of other EQs, the one inherited from Project 5 and the FX series. That's odd because according to the Cakewalk Sonar Essentials webpage it is included: http://www.cakewalk.com/products/SONAR/X1-Essential/feature.aspx/Essential-Effects-in-SONAR-X1 Sonitus:FX EQ is listed as included. I'm assuming that since you say it is not included that they have changed policy. I guess someone had better contact them to let them know their page is misleading.

I would suggest your reading is correct. The pdf clearly indicates the Sonitus EQ is included. No, I do not have Essentials and apologize for any confusion that I introduced into the thread.

Hmm... As far as I can see the page describing X1 Essential names Amplitube as part of the package. I do not have Essential, but when I bought X1 Producer I also got Guitar Rig 4 Le, and the serial was included on the DVD sleeve. I can imagine the same has been done for Amplitube that came with Essential. Are you sure the serial was not included on the sleeve or on some card in your box? And if you have not bought a box but an upgrade, take a look at your account you used to register X1 Essential - all your serials should be there.

I'd just go to IK multimedia and sign up to get the latest free version they have its a better version and you can use it to do as much as the other LE version anyway in terms of amp choices except this newer one has better amp modeling. Linear Phase is getting you on the right path.

No worries, I have no doubt we were both just trying to be helpful and the literature isn't as clear as it could be. It might be useful if the comparison chart listed "Sonitus Suite" as opposed to just Sonitus.

Yeah, it struck me as odd that an included plugin would "time out" esp. as it seems to be a "lite" version.
