Ancient (Fourth mix... is the low end *just right*?)

Howdy friends!

I just finished a new track- it's melodic electronic stuff- and I've been struggling with getting the low end exactly the way I want it.

I'll admit that my monitors have been packed away for a while (I'm in the middle of a move), and so I've been mixing on a bunch of different consumer products- headphones, stereo, car speakers, etc.

How do you guys feel about the low end?

Thanks for listening! :o]

Hi Vince, you have a terrific song here.  The bass drum comes through, loud and clear, and sits nicely in the mix.  However, that's about all I hear in the low end.  If you intended for this song to have no bass synth, then you're good to go.  It seems like everything else is in the upper mid range of the spectrum.  This song is good enough to get those monitors unpacked.  Without knowing your vision, it's hard to tell if you achieved your goal.

    All the best,
    Lynn

Listening on my Event 20/20's it sounds very bright, very very bright and the bass gets lost.

On my DT100 it sounds less bright but they are only tracking headphones, on a set of old Hi-Fi open back headphones it sounds bright but the bass is more obvious.

Needs to be heard on speakers for you to get a speaker mix.

    Thanks for sharing.

It wouldn't hurt to have more bass for sure.

But even though this isn't necessarily my type of music, I really like it.

Thanks for the feedback, guys! I've put together a fifth mix with your feedback that, after listening on everything I can get my... ears?.... on, I think really hits the spot.

I appreciate the notes on the song itself, too, Lynn and Janet :o]

I'm listening on good monitors and agree that you could have some more bass.   Like so much of the electronica it seems to not have a lot of changes or many at all, really.  I know if I was on a dancefloor (wouldn't that be pretty?) I would not notice that.  It sounds really good and has some nice "thingys" in it.  I listened to about 2.5 minutes and watched the waveform.  I started moving the timeline up a bit at a time and it seemed like I landed where I just moved it from.  That is my electronica burden to bear.  What is done is really well done.  :-)
