Tough to give instructions without hearing how the sound was recorded. Most times you'll need to high pass so that the talk box effect isn't bringing in any extra lows. You may need to add mids, you may need to take them away....I'd be shooting in the dark telling you things to try without hearing it.
As for effects, if you use a verb, make sure you DON'T use one with a long decay time or something in a big hall. A small room with a little ambience is usually enough. Just keep the decay tail from lasting too long. Shorter is better in my opinion. Good luck.
