Problems recording Audio in SONAR X1 with Firewire 410 interface

Hi there,
 
I am used SONAR X1 with a Firewire 410 interface to record audio.  During the recording everything seems fine but on playback there is a strange tapping delay added to the audio.  I've tried the usual latency adjustments and disabling audio echo during recording but the tapping delay is still there in the recorded audio.
 
I've tried contacting Cakewalk support but have had no response so hoping that someone can help on here.
 
Please please please reply as I am gagging to get started on some recordings!

    Could be latency. Are you using ASIO driver mode? Are you monitoring through headphones on the 410 or through the computer?

    I use my FW 410 every night. I have the latest M-Audio drivers.
    No delay issues at all.
    Can you give us more info on your settings and PC config?
    Let us know your firmware and driver versions on the FW410.
    We can help out more, once you help us with your hardware
    configuration.

    Hi ccraven,
    it is possible to guess what is the reason for the tapping delay you are describing,but like donbelisle mentioned, you should give us more info on your settings and PC config. 
    Another reason for the delay could be the routing  aso in the
    routing software.

    Thanks for the replies so far.  The driver mode I am using is WDM/KS.  For some reason I cannot change it to any other and it causes my SONAR to crash when I do.  These are the details of my FW 410.  I guess the drivers are quite old as I am using the original installation disk that came with the device when I bought it 5 years ago!  My SONAR X1 is brand new:

    Panel: 5.10.0.5058
    driver: 5.10.0.5058
    bootloader: 2003/04/04 13:46:25
    firmware: 2007/05/04 10:26:56
    hardware: model: 2 version: 1
    GUID: 000D-6C01-00BB-BB8F

    I've also noticed that the sampling rate on the FW410 always changes to 48k when I record or at the start of playback even though I set the SONAR preferences to use 44.1k.

    Yeah... you definitely need to get the ASIO drivers working properly. They are designed to work the best with that interface.

    Go to the FW400's web site and look at support. Most companies have their latest drivers on line and downloadable. Get the latest ASIO drivers and load them up. 

    Set the interface to 44.1/16 to start with and see what happens. I record at 24 bits for everything and IIRC have 44.1khz sampling. I use a firewire interface from Focusrite. 

    For most home studio recording those settings are more than sufficient to give superb quality.

    I'm sorry for the confusion guys but I am using the latest FW410 driver that is listed on their website for Windows Vista 32-bit SP2: http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver&serie_ID=2&PID=5f35def5b4107998b11119907053a313&OS=x84&x=10&y=12

    Have you any clue why the ASIO driver may not be working properly?
