What's with the picture?
Sometimes when I click on a thread and the page opens, there's a picture of Mitt Romney at the top of the page. Is anybody else getting this? What's the deal?

if you live in the US my guess would be that it's because you've got an election coming in nov and he's one of the contestants :) if you're not from US I don't know though.. I never get his picture anywhere on this forum (or any add that's not cakewalk, for that matter)

Those in the US will know that the pre-election chatter is positioning Obama v Romney as Communist v Fascist (meaning Republicans call Obama a Communist and Democrats call Romney a Fascist). We are having a class war over here. Insane and hilarious since the US President has very limited control over the economy.

that is not happening here..... if it was I think I'd be a bit surprised to say the least.... I didn't think Cakewalk publicly has taken sides on such a divisive subject..... they don't allow us to discuss politics in any of the threads so that would be consistent with them not taking sides either. maybe you got some malware that is causing that. Clear your picture cashes and temp files....

It just happened again and I captured the screenshot but I can't figure out how to insert the screenshot into this message. When I click on the icon to insert an image, it asks for a URL. I'm trying to insert it from my pictures folder. It's odd that this only seems to be happening to me, and only occasionally. If someone can tell me how to insert the screenshot, you'll see that it's not an ad; it's just a small picture with no text. Most peculiar.

you have to load it to a site like photobucket and then use the icon to the left of the smiley face to paste the link.... then the pic will show up.

Maybe this is some kind of browser hack, like a few months ago when something was replacing all photos with photos of cats (or did I dream that).

Definitely a virus of sorts. Try Malewarebytes and/or Spybot Search and Destroy (S&D). Mike

Most likely not a virus, but possibly spyware or simply bad cache in your browser. As RAIN mentioned above, clear out the cache and that should go away.

Hey JD, I tend to throw virus around loosely as a general term. Pretty much anything that is messing with my PC and I didn't install or put it there. Kind of like a weed in the garden. If a sunflower starts growing amongst my tomato plants and I didn't plant it, I consider it a weed and yank it. Quick question. How does one go about clearing out the cache in Windows 7? And in XP while we're at it. I've never cleared the cache on any PC and have a feeling that some of the PC's in this here house could benefit from such a cleaning. Thanks, Mike

OK, good point - well, clearing internet cache is difficult to describe cause the terms are a little different and the location is slightly different depending on which browser you use. But in general, there is an "internet tools" sort of function that you pull down and select to clear browsing history. in my FF, for instance, I pull down "Tools", select "options", and go to the "privacy" tab, and click "Clear all current history". Now in the newer IE versions, they;'ve tried to integrate the function more, but pull down: Tools, select Internet options, go to the Advanced tab, scroll clear down until you see "Security", and CHECK THE BOX that says Empty Temporary internet Files when browser is closed. That way every time you close the browser, it's clearing out your cache. Hope this helps. :-)
