With X2 (or X1) do you think we'll be able to control a main DAW with a Win 8 tablet?

I'm kind of envisioning using one as a controller to trigger, tweak, load, etc... stuff of the main system. Actually I have a ton of crazy ideas but I'm just wondering how well Win 8 and 7 will play with each other for the moment. I really don't want 8 on my big system. It'd be kind of cool to go all Geordie Laforge on stuff.

beep, if you want a remote control surface then a cheap android tablet like the Samsung tab2 and any number of apps will do all of this with midi/wifi.. you certainly do not need to rely on win8 for this.

Hi, Mystic. I'm actually kind of curious about the Win8 Tablets that are coming out anyway. I heard the lower level version is only gonna be about $200 so that's pretty reasonable. I've always been kind of skeptical about the tablet phenomena but now that they're starting to have a little more oomph and MS is getting on board I figure it might be a good idea to at least see what they can do. Even if it just ended up being a glorified e-reader it's still kind of worth it to me. If I can use it to control X2 as well that'd be nice. I'd probably toss the console view on it if I could for quick adjustments on the fly. I don't really like having to open and close the multi dock all the time to get at it and instead of wasting dough and desk space on a second monitor this could be a cool solution. I could see it being really useful with the matrix as well (if I ever get around to learning how to use it properly... lol). It may not work at all though but I guess only time will tell. I've got enough toys to play with for the moment anyway but I like to learn about stuff in advance and thought it might make for an interesting thread.

I've also been looking into this (somewhat), just for the convenience of remotely having access to the transport as I record my acoustic guitar in another room. The variable that's holding me back though, is that I would have to enable wi-fi. And I know that this will adversely mess with my latency. How much, I won't know until I try. But I can't try it until I buy a tablet. A bit of a catch 22.

You can do that with both Android tablets and iPad, I'm pretty sure that something simmilar can be done with Win8 tablets when they come out.

I'm a little disapointed that the Microsoft Surface will only do X86 computing but perhaps that's all you really need.

Anyway, a tablet as a remote control surface is nicer than I first though
