Need some help

Hi guys,

I'm hoping someone can help me here. Not quite sure what to do on this one.

I went to load up Session Drummer 3 tonight and it said the plug was missing or not installed correctly. I see it in the VST folder it's supposed to be in. So I figure the registry might have gotten jacked or something. I put in my X1 producer install and install nothing but the Session Drummer 3 VSTi.

It of course asked me for my X1 serial number. I tried my Xpanded number just to see if it would work, but it wouldn't take it. So I used the X1 Producer number as that was the only one that would allow me access to SD3.

So I do the install and after I'm done, I go to open Sonar and it asks me for a reg number. I try the Xpanded number, it doesn't work. I try the X1 producer number and that doesn't work. I'm totally locked out of X1 now and am really dreading a total un-install. Any ideas?

This would really suck to uninstall it all, then put on X1, then Xpanded and then all my PC plugs etc. I'll try anything at this point hoping I don't have to go that route. Thanks in advance. :)

Hi Danny. I had this happen to me not so long ago although not trying to re-install Session Drummer. I tried to install one of the older FX that I'd left out of my initial install.

I ended up with the same result an install that wouldn't accept any serial numbers. I ended up doing a complete uninstall and re-install and that fixed it. Hopefully someone might jump in with a quicker method.

I had a feeling that's what I'd have to do. Thanks Karl....uggh, I'm so dreading this. I might as well get busy as I don't think there's any way around this unfortunately. :( I'd like to wait and see if someone chimes in....but I'm sort of pressed for time....darn. Thanks man.

System restore? I hate to give one liners but that's the first thing I thought of. You've helped me out so many times, I didn't mean to state the obvious.  I've had issues before that a restore fixed. Hope you get it figured out.

Installing Sonar is not such a huge hassle. Installing plugins one by one is a **** though.

    So I don't know - just a thought...

Isn't it possible to move the plugins folder to someplace else where they won't get deleted by the uninstall, and then move them back and scan for plugins? - perhaps move everything back except for the fresh install of the plugin that caused this problem in the first place...

Danny, I know it's not much consolation, but I did a complete reinstall of X1d Expanded a few days ago on my laptop and the whole process was completely pain free and it wasn't that time consuming, and this included several PC modules.

Just make sure you've got all your serial numbers & auth codes before you start - dump  them all into a text file so you can easily copy & paste when required, and make sure you're installing the correct versions of Sonar/Expanded etc.

    X1 > X1c > Expanded > X1d > PC Modules

Then, if applicable, updated versions for Rapture/Z3ta+ 2

Thanks guys, much appreciated for your quick responses. :)

Jumbicat: Thanks, and no brother, one liners and the obvious are always welcome. :) I couldn't do a system restore because it would have taken a few things away that were perfect. I have a feeling ole SD3 has been gone for some time. I barely ever use it but someone requested it specifically. I was going to use one of my other pc's to do what needed to be done, but they were all doing other things. Just as well I fixed this the right way now. I thank you. :)

samhayman: thanks a lot. Unfortunately, it wasn't an issue with any of my plugs...and thankfully none of them needed to be removed or re-installed. The registry was jacked for SD3...so the only way to get it back was to install from my X1 install. I noticed it was gone from 8.5 as well. Though I had the problem with my Reg code for X1, when I did the install, SD3 was back and working in 8.5...so I knew that it worked. All plugs were fine as well other than the PC plugs which are quick and easy to install. Thanks for your help.

Jonesey: I had to go all the way back and remove everything just to play things safe. It's back up now though and everything is working perfectly. It didn't take as long as I thought it would. I'm just installing x64 Sonar now and I'll be good to go. Yeah I had everything backed up. That took more time to do than the install. LOL! I have my own icons, several plug menu's, templates, track templates etc. Those little bothersome things took the most time because I have so many. I had one little snag and that was I had forgotten that the C patch needed to be on before I installed Expanded. I kept on wondering why it said "install the correct version of Sonar before you put install Expanded. But all is well now, thanks bro. :)
