rename plugin instances

Just a (hopefully) simple request for x2.  can we please have some way of quickly renaming plugin instances within sonar?  I use Amplitube 3 for guitar and bass processing, and Guitar rig 5 and its effect expansions for a lot of different processing needs, as well as Kontakt, reaktor and a lot of other synths that can end up with multiple instances on a track.  now, yes for FX I can create an FX chain and name that, but that greyed out rename option in the right click menu just sits there, taunting me.  any consideration would be appreciated, it seems like a small thing,  but it would help a great deal.

You seem to be talking about soft synths rather than Fx plugins here, and you can change the name of these via the synth rack.

Just double click the name of the synth in the rack and enter your own description

thanks,  didn't know that;  but actually I'm most bothered by not being able to name FX instances since I generally have 5-6 Guitar rig instances active, as well 2-3 amplitube ones.  is there any other workaraounds rather than creating an fx chain?
