Newbie Question about X2 and Rapture plugin

Hi Cakewalk, can anyone tell me if the 'Rapture' plugin included in X2 is going to be the full version this time, instead of just the LE version like in X1. Thanks.
And by the way, i downloaded the Breverb just to check it out and it doesn't seem all that good to me. Quite ordinary actually; why did you guys go with that one. A reverb from TC-Electronics or Acoustic Arts or the MPX version of the Lexicon reverb would have been much better. In some ways, well, to me anyway, this is like the same old thing of throwing in useless plugs...They just use up space. Why did you bother. There is nothing that irks me more than an ordinary sounding reverb when it comes to plugins. I hope it's not to late for you guys to realize this and maybe re-jig the situation to replace it with something better.

Awesome 1st post! lol...way to start out on a positive note...not trying to be rude to ya, but we have enough complainers around here and sometimes not near enough praise for what Cakewalk DOES do for us...they are never going to be ever to please everyone...I, for one, am quite grateful for them as well as the helpful and positive users that take there time to help a hobbyist, like me, when a lot of these folks are busy earning their living here! Just something to think about when one posts here...

The funny thing is that reverb rocks. It sounds with the right situation.

Its not the tools that sucks, its the person using them.

I think this is the first time I heard someone complain about how the software works before it is even released. My question is where did you get breverb? I just searched Google with the words cakewalk, download, breverb. There is a lite version of this product according to what came up in the search for 4.95. I am sure cakewalks version will be much different than that.
I am starting to get excited about X2 and I am already planning to upgrade just from what I have read. I don’t think we know the details of every new thing this release has yet. Cakewalk has just given an overview.

Hopefully the reverb isn't as bad as you say and its at least usable. I am more interested in their guitar amp sim's and hope the th2 stuff is worth messing with. Personally I have ReValver and upgrading to podfarm2 on my wish list ahead of getting X2 so its not that important to me just to get a TH2 and Breverb lite and I need to get that next for my immediate use so maybe its not that important to have X2 right away. I probably will go for a name reverb as well after that like eventide or NI Komplete which comes with a reverb program. To me Guitar rig has unusable tone for main guitar parts but it offers a nice tone when playing clean guitar parts and I never mess with AT at all because its just too difficult to get a useable tone. A proper on-line directory for sharing presets like line 6 makes available is a must have for any amp sim maker because the people like to share presets and that helps us to find usable tones we can tweak more easily. Of course I still want the hardware the Kemper and axe FX are the ultimate and I still want to get an eventide FX unit as well but the budget is pretty tight right now.

I have Pod Farm 2.5 and I love this program. It works and sounds much better than Guitar Rig. The cool thing about it is you can use individual effects from Pod Farm in the FX bin instead of loading the whole GUI. It cuts down on CPU cycles. If you have any of the Pod x3 hardware you can get it for free. I use X3 pro for the hardware end.
I am also interested in the new X2 guitar amp sim as well. I want to compare that with Pod Farm. I highly doubt Cakewalk will put a junky reverb in a new addition of its next software release and list it as a main feature. I am expecting great things from breverb. I am certain this breverb  plug will be excellent and I can’t wait to try it.

Breverb has been around for years and the Breverb 2 version (which looks to be the one that will come w/ Sonar) has been out for a while as well.  You can just go to www.overloud.com and demo the plug.  The same for those that want to check out the TH2 amp sim.  I agree w/ CJ though, Breverb sounds good in the right situation.  It may not become your go-to reverb but it's a good tool to have in the arsenal.  It's also cool that it will be available as a PC module as well.

*I have all the fullversions of all the synths from Cakewalk already..

*I have all kinds of IRs and Convolution reverbs already + hardware fxs so I'm pretty set, thank you.

Have you never thought and consider that it is perhaps not because of the included plugins and VST-I  why we all use the SONAR X1 DAW program?

Re:Newbie Question about X2 and Rapture plugin August 24, 12 2:43 PM (permalink)
Cool Links Freddie, I like the isotope stuff. I went to overloud and downloaded the TH2 amp sim and the Breverb. I have been running and testing both plug ins. I found the breverb to be an awesome reverb with a great sound. It may not be right for every situation but it is a good one to add to the collection.

Overloud has some great videos that go into detail on the TH2 and I am sure some of these features will apply to the version inside of the X2 release.

    http://www.overloud.com/products/th2_video.php

There are four videos that talk about the amp sim. In my opinion it is better than Guitar Rig. However, I use Pod Farm and I think it is still better in some ways. I like the fact that TH2 gives you 2 mics to use and it has more mics to select from. But I like some of the amp models better in Pod Farm. I also like having all the bass amp models that come with Pod Farm. I really like the Randall amp in TH2. The Brunetti amp is good too. So here are some questions.

I noticed that overloud calls their amp sim package TH2 and cakewalk calls their version TH2 producer on their blog site. Is the amp sim in X2 a lite version?

If the amp sim is a lite version what features will not be included?

If the amp sim is a lite version will cakewalk customers be given a special price to upgrade?

The same questions apply to Breverb

    http://www.amazon.com/Behind-Glass-Record-Producers-Softcover/dp/0879306149

One of my favorite books on music production by far..  In this book, "world famous producer," who have, "tens of millions of records sold," talk about reverb over and over again.

In this book, they do not consider any reverb, to have a good sound.  They do not consider the best and most expensive hardware reverb, to sound any better than a freeware reverb.

Read the book..  I kid you not.

Another thing that stands out in the book, is how they praise the SM57 Microphone, "over and over again."  ( Although not for lead vocals. )  But they do mention it.

The main concern for the book, and how you get, "a hit sounding record."  Is levels, instruments, songwriting, and eq!

Great guitars, awesome drum kits, expensive pianos, wonderful songwriting.. "the most gentle compressor you can get your hands on, and a Neve Desk, cause that is EQ."

The eq on Sonar's Pro-Channel?  OMFG it is one of the best around.  I've been at this 7 years now..  I can not think of a vst plugin I would rather use..   That Pro-Channel Eq is amazing...

Rather than complain about Reverb..  I highly suggest, that those of you with a sense of adventure, purchase Behind The Glass, and learn to EQ your reverb....

I quite like the Sonitus Reverb....   I'm beyond excited about the BReverb Cakewalk Edition...

I'm using Voxengo's Old Skool Reverb all the time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Oh its an amazing reverb!  and its freeware!!   Go figure

    too many lasers...

yea,  the (good) mixers that i work with do not use reverb...at all.

Personally i'm not able to do that.  On the other hand i've heard nothing but good things about Breverb.  before Sonar picked it up.
