What driver mode are you using? Duo Capture has proper ASIO drivers written for it, I think, so that's what you shuld use. What's your latency set at? Have you played with different buffer sizes? The 32 bit SONAR can only use about 3 gigas of RAM, so the extra 5 gigas doesn't help in this case. As you have used that set up successfully this far, before the hardware upgrade, I assume you have no resource eating apps running in the background. OTOH, ASIO can only use only one interface at a time, so I wonder if Duo Capture and UM-2G cause a conflict operating simultaneously? If so, using WDM driver should/could help.
SONAR PE 8.5.3, Asus P5B, 2,4 Ghz Dual Core, 4 Gb RAM, GF 7300, EMU 1820, Bluetube Pre - Kontakt4, Ozone, Addictive Drums, PSP Mixpack2, Melda Creative Pack, Melodyne Plugin etc. The benefit of being a middle aged amateur is the low number of years of frustration ahead of you.

ok the audio drive is mme 32 bit buffer is set at 20.0 msec, more than that and i will get latency... this is a problem that i had even before the update, and there is nothing running in the background thank you as far conflicting i don't think so half the time i don't even use the um 2 g,but then again .......so what you think i should do?try asio drive?

ASIO definitely, MME is the last resort.

+1 Switch to ASIO mode. Why didn't you install 64-bit Sonar since you have a 64-bit O/S?

Dave ......sonar did not give me that option for the 64 bit installation..... do you think that running at 32 bit is a problem with 64 o/s? i will try to switch to asio drive

Make sure you download and install all the SONAR updates and patches, and the driver updates for the interface. Use the ASIO Driver Mode for the interface. You may have to right-click the SONAR icon and set it to 'Run As Administrator'. Do the same for the executable file on your hard drive. When right-clicking the icon, you may get an option to 'Troubleshoot Compatibility'. Click that, too, and the computer will try to select the best settings to run the older program. Using a 32-bit program on a 64-bit machine, you're limited to 3-4 GB of memory usage, but more memory is always better, and you may want to upgrade to a 64-bit program in the future.

do you think that running at 32 bit is a problem with 64 o/s? It shouldn't be. Keep in mind you may lose a few softsynths and effects that won't work under 64-bit. The best solution is to have both 32 and 64 bit versions installed at the same time. That way if you need one of the older DXi's, you can get to it in the 32-bit version.

Yes, if you want to get the best of both worlds. I don't know if it makes that much difference with the Home Studio product, but with Producer its best to have both.
