Sonar X2 sale modes / versions / content ?

Some queries to Cakewalk team and anybody who knows regarding the X2 release :


1. What are the modes by which Sonar X2 will be sold ? Download version / Box version ?

2. In case of boxed version, can it be purchased with serial number included ?

3. What will be the approximate download sizes for X2 Producer ?

4. Will the X2 installation overwrite X1 Expanded OR will X2 get separately installed alongside ?

5. Presuming all the content of X1 expanded and Production suite will be included in X2 Producer, will it also include all Prochannel modules in addition ?

6. Will Rapture full version (not just LE) be included within Sonar X2 Producer ?

7. Will True pianos full version be included ?

8. Will mp3 encoder full access be included ?



All what I could think of for now....but there will be more.... :-)

That information has not been released but based on past releases:

1. Upgrades are usually sold as downloads although you can purchase a boxed version for an additional fee (last time it was $30). New versions are sold boxed. 

2. With upgrades, they send you the serial #. Not sure about boxed versions. Last time I bought a box, I believe I had to register it to get the serial #. 

3. I believe X1 was multiple files totalling over 10GB. That included Beatscape and Dimension Pro, and Additional Content. The 2 files for Producer totaled about 5-6GB. 

4. Sonar never overwrites the previous version. It always installs in addition to the currently installed version. You can always uninstall the older version later.
