Straummy has made a new friend - a pussy cat!!
The last few days I've noticed a new cat on my back lawn - and this one is just picking at the scraps I've put out for the birds, not crapping! I don't know if he's a stray or whether he belongs to someone local, but earlier on he came right up to my open patio door and starting meowing like crazy outside. I made a bit of a fuss of him, and he felt like he needed a good meal inside him. I put down a drink and opened up a can of tuna for him, which he wolfed down in just a few minutes. He then proceeded to let me follow him all round the house before plonking himself down by the TV and dozing off! In fact, he's still there now over an hour later, only occasionally opening his eyes and looking up to make sure I'm still adoring him. He's positioned himself right by the patio door, which I've left slightly open, as he's pretty nervous and I guess he knows he's got an escape route to hand if he feels like leaving. I did put him outside after I'd fed him but he wanted to come straight back in again. Straummy has turned over a new leaf  I'm gorgeous, so feed me! Let me back inside you fat git! Ooo, you have a guitar. Bugger off, I'm trying to get some kip!

It may be a stray from another home (i.e., lost or abandoned), but it's almost certainly not a feral cat if it feels comfortable coming into a house and hanging out with humans.

I love cats. We lost one earlier this year and one a couple of years ago that devistated my wife. It was the first animal that took up with her, in her life. His name was Tommy and he was a big baby. ... maybe it is time for a new kitty.
Steve that is a good looking cat!! If it is a male and not spayed and not spraying yet.. if you get him spayed befre he starts he likely wont start. If he starts he likely wont stop even if you get him spayed... but sometimes they will stop.
Congrats!! All will be well until he jumps up onto the mixer at exactly the wrong time, lol.

Yeah, unfortunately you've got a few things to do with it before you can let it stay... Out here, most pets have one of those ID's under their skin (back of neck area) so I'd first check to see if someone's missing a kitty. If not, you really should have a vet check the cat out (it looks healthy and well fed). A stray can often cost more than one bought from a good breeder.
I still have several Aural Gramma Pads that have been scratched up just from kitty-sitting our neighbor's new adoptee. She also got up on my main mixer and thought the moving parts were tons of fun *sigh* ...

Well, it's now 2pm here in Blighty and the little feller hasn't been around yet.
I'm guessing he's not a stray, like some of you have mentioned he's in pretty good shape, but he did give me that impression at first. Mind you, one thing I did notice was that if I made any sudden movements near him he cowered away - like an automatic response as opposed to any real fear of getting clobbered. I just hope the poor thing isn't being knocked about by his owners.

Could very likely be a "drop off" ..... someone who had it, didn't want it, for whatever reasons, and took it for a ride to a new town. As opposed to a stray from another neighborhood out for some "catting around" on the town before heading home.
If you determine it to be a stray, and if you plan to keep it, I would certainly take it to a vet for a good physical exam. Fleas are the least of your concerns with a stray that happens by. Cats are carriers of parasites that you really do not want to come in contact with.
