The Upgrade.....
Just wondering if anyone can positively confirm that upgrading to X1 Production Suite now (through Aug. 31) will allow the free X2 update when it is released...? I know on the website it states that if you "purchase" Production Suite you will get the free upgrade, and there is a choice for upgrading from X1 Producer Expanded (which I have) for $100...but it would be nice to know positively that the X2 upgrade will indeed be included when it is released.

I, too, have been pondering whether the free upgrade to X2 includes UPGRADES before 8/31 or only FULL NEW purchases of X1. Maybe someone more knowledgable (someone from the bakery, perhaps... wink, wink?) can clarify this. BUT... in your case - and mine - the upgrade to X2 from Producer Expanded is supposed to be $99 anyway. So upgrading to Production Suite now would not save us any money. Would it?

Aren't there a bunch of additional products in Production Suite that you'd effectively be getting for just $1 ? Only Z3ta+2 and the PC Expander/Gate. If, like me , you have one of those, it may be worth weighing that against the "special offer" open to early adopters that Cake has promised. The other thing that has stopped me going down this route is that I have not seen it confirmed by any Cake staff that upgrading to Production Suite, rather than a new purchase, will give you free Upgrade to X2. Imagine the pain if you pay the cash for Pro Suite and don't get the free upgrade to X2. You will just have blown a hundred bucks on what will be, effectively, a legacy product. Just a thought...

The Cake site states:- Special Offer: Starting August 1 through October 31st, when you purchase SONAR X1 Production Suite, you will get SONAR X2 Producer for free once it becomes available. Take advantage of all the new features in SONAR X1 without having to worry that a new version is just around corner. As this is in the Cake Shop, which is only for upgrade downloads, it would appear that you get X2 for free, but it does not actually SAY that. I think I'll hang on and go for the early adopters offer, I'm sure it will be good, Cake have always been good like that.

Maybe X2 Producer will include all the stuff that X1 Production Suite has now. But just to be safe, I was thinking of upgrading to X1 Production Suite to get the synth and gate. I was thinking the deadline to upgrade was Aug. 31....but if it's Oct. 31 I may hang on a while and see what happens.

Teds_Studio It sounds to me like they no longer have a "Production Suite", for X2, since the upgrade from X1 Producer or X1 Production Suite will be to X2 Producer. Maybe X2 Producer will include all the stuff that X1 Production Suite has now. Or, the extras in X2 Production Suite are exactly the same as the extras in X1 Production suite. In that case, owners of X1 Production Suite wouldn't need an upgrade to X2 Production Suite, they'd only need to upgrade to X2 Producer since they already have the PS extras.

There is another post going (I think titled "Upgrade Pricing") where a poster states that they received an email confirmation from CW that upgrading to the production suite gets you the upgrade PLUS any throw-in's they add for early adapters....
