Can only run X1 once after reboot with ASIO then a second session cannot find ASIO?
Hi, I have the strangest issue with X! build 184 After a Windows boot, I launch X1 and have no problems! (Windows 7 64 bit, Roland UA-25EX Audio Capture (ASIO), Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300 @ 2.50GHz, 8GB ram) When I close X1 and come back to it later X1 cannot find the ASIO driver (Even though it was all fine on the first load after a boot) Its only X1 thats the problem? Reason 6.5 and Sony Audition don't have issues with the ASIO and execute with no problems! Funny how its only X1 with its very own Cakewalk/Roland UA-25-EX have the problem! Any suggestions would be most welcome! As a final note, if I throw X1 into WDM/KS or any of the other drivers it works perfect! But I need ASIO as I use live monitoring and need low latency! Also This is what I paid for!!! Regards Eddie

you don't say if you are running the latest version of the drivers http://www.rolandus.com/products/productdetails.php?ProductId=970 "this is what you paid for"... fair enough, but this is the end users forum *NOT* tech support, so perhaps contact them directly , as well sounds like it isn't releasing the driver, and well WDM is different.

Thanks LP Much appreciated! Dearest "Fog" Woah! A forum is also about asking for help from other users who may have encounter similar problems! Why the venom? I believe I am an end user! There has only ever been one driver and yes I have it.... UA-25EX Driver Version 1.0.0 for Windows 7 64-bit Edition As I said in my post the problem is only with Sonar X1 ("That's "Cakewalk" Sonar X1 by the way) The UA-25X works with all my other software so I thought that the problem might be "Sonar" related? Hence a post in a "Sonar X1" Forum! Please be nice! It costs nothing! You ever needed advice??? Eddie

SONAR X1 has 3 flavours (actually 4) Essential studio Producer Producer Expanded It has also gone through a number of updates. First release X1 then X1a, X1b, X1c, X1d You need to download X1c (its a rollup of all previous updates) and X1d. Install X1c and before opening SONAR run the X1d installer then open SONAR. It's likely that your problem will be fixed. If not come back to us and we'll be working from the same page. All the best. As for some touchy responses from others - you too may like to dial back the sarcasm as per your opening post - this is a peer to peer forum and we don't have any control over software or hardware and how its made or delivered. What we have is a healthy community that responds and helps folks based on our collective experiences. That's worthy of some respect right from the start. Hope you get it worked out and as I said once you've downloaded and installed the updates come back if problems not solved.

Eddie, I agree with the suggestions above - particularly dl-ing & installing the updates for X1 - but there is one more thing I would like to mention, just in case. It is something I had problems with myself, so I know it can make a difference. Under EDIT > PREFERENCES > AUDIO > PLAYBACK AND RECORDING, there is a box to check to "Share drivers with other programs". Once I checked that box and restarted, I was able to jump between X1 and various other audio programs with much less difficulty. Just something to look for.

Hey, don't sweat it. I personally didn't read anything into your comments. But - if you will allow me to underscore your thoughts on the matter... A good example of sarcasm might be (if said with a sneer in one's voice): "GEE... with a nickname like "merseybeat" I would NEVER have guessed you were from LIVERPOOL!!!" Of course, if the same thing were said with a straight face, as if being sincere, it would be irony, not sarcasm. Cheers!

what your seeing is the overflow of some users comming on here and bad mouthing sonar out of frustration. your comment could have been taken either way as an insult or a joke. alot of us here(including myself)love and defend this software constantly from the pro tools lovers that come over here just to ruffle some feathers for fun. so some of us(including myself) get color blind. Fog is actually a pretty good guy.dont sweat it.

For what it's worth.... I have experienced similar issues with the ASIO driver. If I need to shut down X1 for any reason, Most times it will come back up and run OK, but occasionally the communication link between the computer & software and the interface gets broken. A restart of both DAW and interface get it rolling. During the restart... I take a few minutes to stretch the legs and get a beverage refill.

Glad it worked: I didn't personally take your comments as sarcastic but I figured that fog's comment may have come from having thought your comments were. I hope you can see that it's no big deal as I did continue to make a number of what I hoped were useful suggestions. i find generally that text alone lumps us with all sorts of baggage that may or may not be real. Anyway the main thing is that you've got your problem sorted out. It sounded so much like my first forays into SONAR X1 before any patches were released especially before X1c.
