Keep us in La. in your thoughts

or prayers (if you are o inclined). Isaac seems to have slowed down and predictions now are we are in for rain and wind for 36 hours until Friday morning. It is 8:36 am here and winds are starting up,gusts expected to 80 mph.I have power now but expect it to go this afternoon as the bands hit. I hope Bill moved out of his waterside studio into his van...

The subject line said La.  I thought you meant Lower Atlanta .  Suffice to say many still have not fully recovered from Irene, so I'll definately be incline-ing to send up some prayers for ALL that will be in the impact areas.  36 hours of rain is definately NOT good.

    Stay safe!

Take a pad and pencil and write down some possible lyrics about the whole experience.  Helps keep your mind off of it plus something really good might come out of it!

I'm with you on this George......we're watching Isaac closely here in Orlando, but it's not as bad as the 80mph winds you're getting. Keep safe and keep posting.

Heh - the last year in my old house (on top of a ridge that looks East), we had so-called "East Winds" that exceeded 80mph...  This wasn't deemed to be anything out of the ordinary - laff!

Still south of me but looking to get wet on the ride home this eve.

I had a big, BIG pine tree hit a truck on my side I was passenger in. It was during
an ice storm a couple of years back.
I was with a driver and a passenger in the back seat and we had just taken off-probably
doing 25-30 mph when the tree came from the side and hit the hood and pillar
on my side. When everything stopped I couldn't sit up in the seat, everything was
covered in glass and the tree had put a powerline on the truck. Guys behind us later
told us it knocked the tail of the truck up in the air over 6 ft.
We had a radio and called for help...stuck in there for about an hour.
Hardest I've ever been hit and not knocked out lol  didn't get a scratch. Well there were
little pieces of glass stuck in me but nothing really bad. I did have to get my hands x-rayed
to make sure none got inside. Just a hassle.

Now when the wind blows...and it does kick-up before the storms hit- I get to watchin'
    trees LOL.

Here in NC we had Floyd come through a few years ago.... (well maybe more than a few years now),,,,anyway,

Floyd was not a particularly powerful storm but it was slow moving and dumped a lot of rain. Estimates centered around 15 inches on average with some areas getting quite a bit more. The flooding that followed was unprecedented in the state's history. Thousands of families lost their homes, businesses, and all their worldly possessions. Quite a few lost their lives as well. Several low lying towns were almost completely wiped out. Many of my customers were flooded. It was wide spread flooding devastation across eastern NC.

My prayers go to you and all the families that are affected.

as of 8:20 PM we are experiencing severe rain barrages and continuous steady winds of 30-40 with gusts much higher. Flooding in places that dont flood. The ground will be saturated and trees will. uproot from this ..Lot power at 1:30 today and have been told could be as late as tuesday before power is restored Cell phone and texting service is dismal, but the dsl connection is up. I am on generator power at this time.

I am blessed compared to SLidell, Laplace,South of New Orleans, even Franklington, Madisonville, ALL those cities are flooding . SOme people were trapped in attics(and rescued)some escape with water high in their houses.... Now the job of restoring power, clearing fallen trees, and putting lives back together begin. I have one leak on my roof that actually came from the central heaters exhaust vent(wind forced water down it),.Still on generator, dont expect power any time soon, even though I am on a main road and feeder. Thanks to all for the prayers and wishes. @Craigb-- I am writing a blues song per your idea, too bad Isaac was a he, a she woulda made a great blues woman done me wrong song !!
