Its mind blowing..  Especially when you consider the quality of the Cakewalk stuff.. Quad Curve, those comps, and the console emulator.. + your favorite vst effects + everything drags and drops on the ProChannel + everything drags and drops inside an FX Chain...

So??????????????   21st ultra complex wall of sound building.

Actually..   Its like a big time audio brain storm.  I'm getting all kinds of ideas just thinking about it.

Wow, that's one hell of a layout for six tracks !! A newbie might get scared away...but it's basically a simple thing.

Imagine having an actual desk with the same capabilities...that would cost a fortune.

Funny thing because the night before Cake published that pic on FB, I actually dreamed that I was getting back to Sonar w/ the new version it came w/ a desk which was basically a hardware replica of the console view and Pro Channel. Lots of fun. :P

OK, here's something I've never been able to figure out about X1.
What is that orange line at the bottom of the tracks?
I know it's something to do with grouping but never did figure out how to turn it on or off or even what it's called so that I can look it up in Scott's Power book.

    Thanks.

Interesting.. this pic shows 6 channels, but when I try setting up X1 the same way, I only get 5.5 channels...have they changed the GUI or do I need a different monitor ??

I tried changing my screen resolution to a number of different settings and some get only 5 channels, some get 5.5 channels....Do I need a special extra wide monitor or something ??

Getting six channels to display would be great !!

Those are "ACT" enabled tracks. Good question on how to turn them off....I don't use ACT as much due to the powerful controllers I have. Read your help file about ACT and it will probably tell you how to disable it to where you don't see those anymore if you're not using it. ACT is really quite cool though if you have a use for it. :)

    Cool. Thanks Danny.
I don't really have a use for ACT. I have an Axiom 49 that's been under cover for the last 3 years.
And now with all the iPad apps that can be used to control the transport bar from behind my drums I don't really need that either.
I just keep it around in case I feel like adding strings or pads to a song.

At least now I know where to look. Kudos my friend.

No they are WAI Where Am I. Its for a control surface. It lets one know what tracks are being controlled. Notice that the buss is also underlined. That is because its also controlled by the CS.

If you use more than one CS you'll get different colors showing for each CS.

If you use the Mackie control the 8 faders control 8 tracks at a time. The 9th is normally assigned to the buss.

OK then it must be caused by the V-Control Pro I now use as my CS.
Thanks John that explains why it only hi-lights 8 tracks at a time.
I checked today and when I jump to the next 8 tracks they get the orange line.

Exactly. It was introduced some while back without much fanfare and it can be overlooked. Its a nice feature that CW added to help us CS users find our way around.

BTW Danny is not wrong rather an ACT enabled device can also use the WAI if it can also control the CV.

Would look better with a darker background -  I'd be all over it if it wasn't for that awful pale grey everywhere. C'mon CW, surely it can't be that difficult to give us a choice ?
