Which forum for Pro Channel advice

Which forum or other link would be a good one to get some tips on the sequence of setting up modules in Pro Channel ? The interest in sharing this seems to be minimal.

Thanks !

    Silver,

you asking which effects and order in PC?  As always, that depends.  But the usual order in the analog world on a big desk is gate, comp, EQ.  Gate to, well, winnow the sound down, comp to level, EQ to shape.  Of course, you could patch in more or even switch the order of the standard channel strip.

And on featured channels (vox, lead guitar, cow bell) one might double the compressors, having a quick, 1176 style comp to shape the sound before sending it to a slower attack LA2A comp to level and fill out the sound.

I find it best to stick w/ traditional, analog structure unless there is a reason to change, since there is a reason the processors were wired that way.

    +1 to what AT said.

Also, another increasingly common approach is to put a hi-pass filter just before the comp and then another EQ after for sculpting work. Since just about everything except bass and kick are hi-passed these days it can sometimes help to only have the compressor work on the "useful" stuff instead of having its headroom used up by bass frequencies that you're just going to get rid of anyway. Focusing EQ works great for that task btw.
